According to U.S. media, Oscar-winning American actor William Hurt, who starred in critically acclaimed TV series and Marvel movies of the 1980s, died at the age of 71.
Hurt won the 1986 Academy Award for Best Actor for playing an inmate in a Brazilian prison in Spider-Woman's Kiss.
Over the next two years, he was nominated twice, for Children of the Gods and Radio News.
In recent years, he has been known as General Sardis "Thunderbolt" Rose in five Marvel blockbusters.

The Hollywood website Deadline quoted a statement from Hurt's son, Will, as saying: "Hurt's family mourns with great grief william Hutt, his beloved father and Oscar-winning actor, who died on March 13, 2022, a week before his 72nd birthday.
"He died peacefully in his family for natural reasons. The family asks for privacy at this time. ”
