Through the introduction of the writer's friend Mei Jie, Mr. Lan Shanqing of Yunyang, Hubei Province, handed over his manuscript of "A Land of Ancient Times" to me at the end of last year. I was working on the literary Blue Book (2015) and was busy with tight schedules, urgent tasks, and a lot of excitement. After a quick review of the manuscript, although it was particularly fascinating and very impressive, there was no time to sort out the feelings and write the preface. After making this annual literary report in full swing, he caught up with the sudden death of his friend Chen Zhongzhong, and thus went on a journey and busy between Beijing and Xi'an, and nothing else was taken care of. At this time, Mr. Lan Shanqing had handed over the manuscript to the publishing house, and he was anxious to make a phone call or text message from time to time, half greeting and half urging, I knew that the matter of writing the preface could not be postponed any longer, so I took advantage of the few days of the Dragon Boat Festival to read the manuscript again.

I have read it twice, and I have different feelings and experiences. Taken together, I feel that this is a prepared big prose writing, and therefore a big cultural work with feeling. The author connects the collection of historical materials with the investigation of the field, combines the historical evidence with the perception of literature, and removes the folds of history through one story and detail after another; through individual characters and events, explores the details of humanities. In this way, Yunyang, which seems to live in a corner of northwest Hubei, has been blown away by layers of thick dust, lifting the veil of mystery, showing the strange brilliance and rich charm of the long history and thick culture intertwined.
"A Land of Eternity" is very good and readable, and there are many remarkable points. In my opinion, it has its own characteristics in at least three aspects and deserves special attention.
First, the skills of historians are displayed in the salvage and collation of historical books. The most surprising and surprising thing about "A Land of All Ages" is that around the place of Yunyang, there are historical materials that are conscripted by faith, there are historical facts that can be verified, from the ancient prehistoric civilization, to the early god culture, from the pre-Qin elk founding, to the establishment of Zixu's name of "Yun", from Qu Yuan's Yunyang summoning soul, to the fallen soul residence of Prince Li Tang, from the original Establishment of Yunyang, to Wang Shizhen's journey to Fuyun, from the dormant Yunyang of the Valve King, to the establishment of the fuzhi in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the history and geography of this place in Yunyang, the origin and evolution of the history and geography of this place. Nature and humanities, cultural relics and customs, civilization and culture, stories and legends, etc., have been carefully planted and carefully connected, so that people follow the footsteps of rumbling history, and appreciate the high ancient and magical of Yunyang, a corner of northwest Hubei, as well as the pivotal nature of longitude and latitude ancient and modern times, and the uniqueness of Wuhua Tianbao.
I didn't know much about the author Lan Shanqing's expertise and education, but the historian's knowledge shown by "A Place of Eternity" was really amazing. The historical sites and historical facts involved in the work must not only be carefully combed and sorted out in a large number of historical books and history books, but also need to be carefully analyzed and examined by various historical materials; the relics and remains described in the works need to pay attention to and study the relevant archaeological discoveries and achievements, and also need to carry out relevant fieldwork and visits. It can be said that writing such a book is far from enough to have only relevant historical knowledge, but also requires the knowledge literacy of historical geography, the rich library of cultural relics and literature, the experience reserve of archaeologists, and the theoretical vision of cultural scholars. And such a multi-directional requirement with extremely high academic reserves and strong comprehensive quality, the author Lan Shanqing has all of them. This not only makes the writing of "A Place of All Ages" have the most reliable guarantee, but also makes this work have a solid historical foundation and a rich historical style, which makes people read it with both roots and sound.
Second, touch the pulse of civilization in the narrative and depiction of literature.
"A Land of All Ages" is not only rich in connotation and style at the level of history, but also from a literary point of view, it is also rich and colorful. This is mainly manifested in the narrative writing and skill selection of the work full of humanistic interest.
The language of the work is prose culture, but in the narrative-based flexible writing, it not only explores the secret, but also tells the story, both laying out historical facts and telling legends. The direction of the brushstrokes are all the investigation of documents, the reading of cultural relics, the unveiling of culture, and the exploration of the source of civilization, so that people can see that in the slow flow of the long river of time, the intersection and convergence, evolution and dispersion of various events and events related to human civilization in yunyang, thus revealing the importance of the Yunyang region and the uniqueness of culture, which is both extremely skyline and reasonable.
In addition, among the 45 chapters of the book, many chapters focus on the past traces and activities of the literati in Yunyang, as well as the cultural relics and literary masterpieces left behind. This kind of historical collusion and historical events from the beginning of the famous passage of the "Book of Poetry" to the end of Mei Jie's writing of Yunyang and Yunyang constitutes, in a sense, the Yunyang chapter of the ancient and modern Chinese literature tour, or a concise history of the relationship between Yunyang literature. Thus, the book "A Place of Eternity" has both the dual connotation and two-way value of history and literature.
Third, the love of the hometown, the love of the land and the love of the country are intertwined.
To tell the truth, with only some historical knowledge and a literary feeling, it is difficult to complete the writing of "A Place of Eternity", and it is difficult to write it as it is now. Obviously, the author Lan Shanqing is not only learned and knowledgeable, but also has a heart and feelings. It can even be said that the deep and fervent love for the homeland of Yunyang is the main driving force support for Lan Shanqing's writing of this "A Land of Eternity". Because of this, he can calm down, go deeper, and pour his heart and passion into it, so that the work is full of hot and burning emotional temperature while containing rich and thick spiritual depth.
Of course, in the final analysis, loving Yunyang is both loving the countryside and the country. When talking about history, the pride of the Long and Splendid History of the Chinese Nation and the pride of the long and excellent tradition of Chinese culture are all touching and felt, and from this pride and pride, they are infected and inspired, so that they are full of pride and self-confidence in the broad and profound history and culture of the Chinese nation.
I think that it is obviously not enough to look at "A Land of Ten Thousand Ages" only from the perspective of writing a corner of Yun Yang. It can be said that this work takes Yun Yang as the main depiction object, takes Yun Yang as China's "this one", tells wonderful Chinese stories in a point-by-point manner, explores The chinese cultural heritage, shows China's unique style, and praises the spirit of the Chinese nation. Therefore, I hope that such a unique and important work can be seen and read by more readers, and will benefit from and benefit from it.
In addition, I have been to many places for most of my life for public and private reasons, and Shiyan City and Wudang Mountain near Yunyang have passed and been there, but they have always rubbed shoulders with Yunyang. In the past, I didn't find this any regret. But watching Lan Shanqing's "A Place of Eternity", I deeply feel that this is really my biggest regret. Therefore, there is also a lingering idea, that is, we must go to Yunyang, not with a playful heart to travel, but with respect to admire.
