Mohammed Salah has reportedly stalled on signing new contracts with Liverpool, with the Egyptians' salary standing low compared to other Premier League stars.

Over MO: In a Liverpool contract deadlock, 14 Premier League stars are paid more than Salah

Liverpool star Mohammed Salah's future is still looming after the striker has snubbed off the club's latest offer of a new contract – the latest figures suggest he has reason to ask for a raise.

The 29-year-old has scored 20 goals in 26 games this season, topping the Premier League scoring list and contributing another 10 assists to his teammates.

But the Egyptians could become one of the latest high-profile stars, dropping their contracts after rejecting the club's latest offer to get a more lucrative salary.

Salah's contract expires in June 2023, but there is no agreement yet between the club and his representative, Rami Abbas.

Over MO: In a Liverpool contract deadlock, 14 Premier League stars are paid more than Salah

Here, Mirror Football counts down to reveal the 14 highest-paid footballers whose salaries at Anfield exceed his.

He is believed to be one of Liverpool's highest-paid players per week, £200,000 a week, but it is widely believed he could get more elsewhere.

According to Spotra's research, the Red Devils star is behind the Premier League's highest-paid player, which may indicate his reluctance to sign on the dotted line.

Here, Football Countdown reveals the 14 highest-paid footballers whose salaries at Anfield exceed his.

14. Virgil van Dijk – £11.4 million

The Liverpool centre-back signed a £75m contract from Southampton in January 2018 for a five-year contract.

But he handed over his future to Manchester United, signing a new contract that would keep him at Anfield until last summer in 2025, which included a big pay rise.

Widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world, few would disagree that the Dutchman deserves his gold weight, let alone his £11.4 million annual salary.

13. John Stones — £13 million

John Stones is City's highest-paid defender

Surprisingly, Stones is the highest paid player of City's three centre-backs, although his transfer fee is the lowest of the three.

The England international is believed to earn £230,000 a week, which puts him ahead of his colleagues Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte, who spent £61m from Benfica.

Like Van Dijk, he signed his new five-year contract in the summer of 2021 after he won back his place in the squad under Guardiola, contributing to their championship victory in 2020/21.

12. Edinson Cavani – £13 million

Manchester United striker Edgar Cavani may not have played as much as he had hoped after reaching a new year's contract extension with the club.

But Uruguayans can at least console themselves with the lucrative weekly salary he earns at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old, who came on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2020, scored 16 goals in his first season in Manchester, although the game has been limited since Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club.

11. Timo Werner — £14.1 million

Chelsea believe they have staged a coup d'état and they persuaded Timo Werner to join them from Red Bull Leipzig in February 2020 for £47.5 million.

While the German's move to the Premier League didn't go exactly as planned, scoring just seven goals in 48 league games, he played an important role in the club's salary bill.

The 27-year-old has Chelsea's third-highest salary, around £260,000 a week, and Chelsea estimates pay around £4m for every goal the striker scores in the top flight.

10. Paul Pogba - £15 million

Paul Pogba's contract expires this summer

The United player has only three months left to complete his current £300,000-a-week contract and there are signs that the 29-year-old will not renew his contract.

Pogba signed a five-year contract after spending a record £89m from Juventus in 2016.

After years of uncertainty about his future, he remains tied to the deal. But with interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, Pogba is likely to leave with a raise from his World Cup title.

9. Ngolo Kante – £15 million

Like his France international colleague, Ngolo Kante signed his contract in 2016 after joining Chelsea from Leicester City for £32m.

However, the midfielder renewed his contract between joining Stamford Bridge after Paris Saint-Germain expressed interest in signing the tireless midfielder in 2018.

N'Golo Kante is no longer Chelsea's top earner, but the 30-year-old may not mind because of the relatively quiet and modest lifestyle he has outside of football.

8. Raheem Sterling — £15.6 million

He was one of England's best-performing players at Euro 2020, scoring 13 goals in all competitions this season and Raheem Sterling remains a valuable asset for City.

The 27-year-old is entering the peak of his career and he will have to choose his next move as carefully as Salah, which Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in.

The club is in talks with Sterling on a new deal that will surely keep him in the position of one of the club's highest earners, with his current contract set to expire in 2023.

Jack Grellish – £15.6 million

Jack Grellish moved to Manchester City for £100 million in the summer of 2021

In the process of moving to Etihad Stadium for £100 million, Jack Grelish not only joined the title, but also tripled his salary in the process.

The player is the second-highest-paid England player in the Premier League after signing a deal on the dotted line that could net him £78 million in five years at Manchester City.

The 26-year-old had a tough start in Manchester, scoring just four goals in 27 games so far and linked to a move back to Aston Villa.

But the England winger has nowhere to go for the time being as he is tied to ahead of 2026 and City sees him as a key member of the squad for years to come.

6. Lukaku — £16.9 million

Not only did Chelsea break their transfer record and bring Romelu Lukaku back to West London, they also handed over the biggest contract in the club's history.

The £97.5 million player, signed from Inter, has already secured a lucrative salary in the San Siro. But in negotiating a long-term deal for his client, Federico Passarello struck a deal for Lukaku worth £315,000 a week.

The Belgian has struggled to regain his best form, scoring 10 goals in all the Blues' games, but under Thomas Tuchel his place was lost to Kay Havertz.

5. Rafael Varane — £17.7 million

He won the World Cup with France and four Champions League trophies at Real Madrid, so when United came in last summer, Rafael Varane could ask for a jaw-dropping salary.

The 28-year-old earns £17.7 million a year during his time at Old Trafford, dwarfing the salary his team-mate Harry Maguire received at the Red Devils.

However, Varane's debut season in England has been hampered by injuries, so he has only made 17 appearances in the league.

4. Jardine Sancho – £18.2 million

Jaden Sancho is the world's highest-paid English player

In England's star-studded squad, Jaden Sancho can boast that he is United's richest player with a huge salary.

The 21-year-old's weekly salary rises sharply when United paid £73m to end his four-year spell in the Bundesliga.

Sancho initially struggled to adjust to life and the pressures of being a Manchester United player, but under Ralph Rangnick he has scored five goals to show United fans why the club has been following him for most of 18 months.

3. David De Gea – £19.5 million

David De Gea is United's longest-running player and, along with Phil Jones, he has proven time and time again that he is one of the club's most important players.

The 30-year-old won the club's Player of the Season for three consecutive years before Bruno Fernandez won the title.

But that's what De Gea is worth, and United feel the need to give him a deal worth £390,000 a week to stymie Real Madrid's interest. With a year left in the deal, the club will have to decide if he's still worth it.

2. Kevin De Bruin — £20 .8m

One of the best players the Premier League has to offer is to get the same hefty salary, which seems fair.

City negotiated for months before finally reaching an agreement with De Bruyne, who has been synonymous with the club since the £55m transfer in 2015.

The Belgian signed a new five-year contract in 2021 to dedicate his future to the club until his final years. With nine goals and five assists this season, he has yet to show signs of slowing down.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – £26.5 million

Over MO: In a Liverpool contract deadlock, 14 Premier League stars are paid more than Salah

Cristiano Ronaldo is the premier league's highest-paid player

Cristiano Ronaldo can only have one top earner in the Premier League, and of course, that has to be him.

The Manchester United star took a sharp pay cut from his reported £800,000-a-week contract when he joined Juventus in August to sign with the Red Devils until 2023.

But as far as the Premier League is concerned, he has his own circle, with United paying the 37-year-old £475,000 a week.

His 18 goals this season proved crucial, although there are doubts about whether the Portuguese superstar can continue to play at the highest level for longer.

However, as long as he stays at Old Trafford, he will continue to cash the biggest check for any player in the league.
