After graduating from university, he entered a famous clothing company and opened a studio, and after obtaining a master's degree in fashion design from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (formerly Zhejiang Silk Institute of Technology), a famous enterprise in Ningbo invited him to serve as a brand design director, but he still chose to enter the school as a teacher. Doing some research in a relatively quiet environment and regaining the painting he loved since childhood, he felt that this was the state of life he wanted.

Wang Xiaowei believes that freehand flower and bird painting can best represent the spiritual connotation of ink painting, so he traveled thousands of miles to Beijing to learn art and learned from famous artists of freehand flower and bird painting.

Wang Xiaowei's flower and bird paintings are always permeated with hazy Zen and pure childlike purity, and they catch up with Gaogu in aesthetics. His ink figure paintings are also unique.
