Analysis of the reasons for the rise in export value:
The report notes that the recovery of Scotch whisky in 2021 was mainly driven by strong growth in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, with exports growing by 71% and 21% respectively. In contrast, or due to the impact of the epidemic, the total export value of 4.91 billion pounds (about 41.548 billion yuan) in 2019 was higher than that of 2021 by 8% year-on-year.
Among them, the United States, the largest market for Scotch whisky exports, although affected by the epidemic and 25% punitive tariffs in 2020, exports were only 729 million pounds (about 6.168 billion yuan), down 340 million year-on-year, a decline of 32%. France, the largest European importer of Scotch whisky, performed relatively steadily in 2021, with exports of £387 million (about 3.274 billion yuan). Although 2020 saw a 13.1% decline to £375 million (about 3.173 billion yuan), it has consistently ranked second in recent years.
In 2021, Scotch whisky exports to Taiwan continued to rise steadily, jumping from 4th to 3rd, with exports of 226 million pounds (about 1.912 billion yuan), up 23.4% year-on-year.
