According to the Response Coordination Centre, according to an analysis by hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection on the vaccination of 1,341 deceased people in Hong Kong against COVID-19, it was found that 91.3% of those who had not completed vaccination were found to be incomplete.

In addition, the mortality rate of those who completed two doses of the vaccine was only 0.04%, while the mortality rate of those who did not receive the vaccine was 1.25%, which was 31 times that of the former.

Drawing on the experience of neighboring regions, in order to cope with the risk of possible outbreak in Macao, we will continue to work with all walks of life to jointly promote the vaccination of more citizens, especially the elderly and children, through different ways and channels.

At present, the Health Bureau and the Social Work Bureau are continuing to promote and encourage elderly vaccination, and from 25 February to 31 March, in cooperation with 8 management entities, 21 vaccination activities have been arranged for the elderly, and through organizing medical staff to carry out publicity and education for the elderly, to provide consultations and answers to the individual health status of the elderly, and to promote the elderly to receive COVID-19 vaccination immediately. At the same time, medical staff were also arranged to go to 24 elderly homes and 12 rehabilitation homes to vaccinate their residents against COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of their residents.

In addition, as of the 9th, a total of more than 90,000 elderly people or their families/carers have been called to be vaccinated by telephone or message through the "Elderly By CALL by Elderly, Call-by-Type to Encourage Elderly Vaccination".

The Bureau of Administration and Public Service has also issued a notice to the public sector that public servants accompanying them or their spouses to 65 years of age or above to receive COVID-19 vaccinations may be reasonably absent from work for one day on the day of vaccination or the day after the vaccination, in order to encourage joint promotion of elderly vaccination.

From 26 February to 8 March, the Health Bureau and the Youth Affairs Bureau conducted a total of nine campus COVID-19 vaccination outreach activities for students, staff and parents. Currently, the overall vaccination rate for schoolchildren aged 3 to 11 years has increased from 6% at the beginning to more than 28% now.

The Response Coordination Center reiterates that the new crown vaccine is effective in preventing infection and reducing the risk of severe illness and death after infection with the new crown virus, especially if the elderly have a higher risk of severe illness and death once infected with the new crown virus than the average adult, so the elderly and children should be vaccinated against the new crown as soon as possible to protect the health of themselves and their families, and jointly establish a community immunization barrier.
