Cody Simpson, 24, a professional singer and model, won the Australian national champion in the 100m butterfly in the 12-13 year old group, and chose to concentrate on his acting career at the age of 13 and bid farewell to swimming. In 2020 he announced that he would return to swimming training with the goal of competing in the Paris Olympics, focusing on butterfly swimming.

He signed up for the 100m and 50m butterfly but did not appear on the field of the 100m butterfly competition.
Finally, he made his debut in the 50m butterfly on Sunday, with a preliminary round of 24.68 seconds and a final of 24.79 seconds, ranking 9th out of 10 players. Two away from him in the same field is the Olympic champion Larkin.

Ten years later, however, he chose to return to the pool and train under the guidance of Australian national team coach Mike Ball. Mike is now also Emma McCann's coach, who has a good chance of winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
