As we all know, the role of pilots on the battlefield is enormous, whether it is air raids or the seizure of air supremacy, it has played a key role in the reversal of the war situation. Correspondingly, the situation of pilots on the battlefield is also very dangerous. If the enemy is targeted or there is a flight error, it is common for the aircraft to be destroyed and killed. In world war II, the most tragic situation, the most missing soldiers, pilots accounted for more than half.

After all, the military equipment at that time did not have the positioning system and strong rescue team of our modern society, and once the pilot fell into the deep mountains and old forests, it was difficult for the troops to find it back. For example, there was a pilot in World War II who disappeared 77 years before people could know his whereabouts.
The pilot, named Petrovich, was from the former Soviet Union. Although the Soviet Union had disintegrated when he was discovered, through the objects around him, people not only determined his identity, but also found that he was a pilot with great achievements. So, how did people find him?
In 2018, construction was underway at a site in Russia. The workers actually dug up the wreckage of a MiG-3 fighter jet. After the workers reported the situation to the relevant departments, the experts immediately heard the news and rushed to the scene. Thanks to everyone's efforts, not only many items from the former Soviet Union were found in the warplane, but also a skeleton was found.
The remains must have been the pilot who flew the fighter. Among those soviet-era items, in addition to some clerical documents, there is also a TT-33 Tokarev automatic pistol. The pistol has a great origin and is said to have appeared in the Soviet-Finnish War. As a result, experts are more curious about the pilot's identity. Through the comparison of various objects, it was found that the fighter was actually Vasily Petrovich, a very popular pilot in the former Soviet Union.
Petrovich was awarded for his outstanding performance in the Soviet-Finnish War, and in the Great Patriotic War, he was awarded the Medal many times for his bravery and strong combat ability. It can be said that this is a meritorious pilot. However, the data shows that Petrovich disappeared after a certain battle.
After examining Petrovich's body, experts found a 20mm bullet wound in front of his chest. Based on this wound, experts believe that Petrovich must have been hit by an enemy while flying, which led to the destruction of the plane.
Although Petrovich has been missing for more than seventy years, the pilot's contribution to World War II has not been forgotten. With the help of experts, his body was able to return to his hometown for burial, and his belongings were placed in the Military Museum for visitors to learn about the heroic pilot's magnificent life.
