Wine · Origins

When it comes to wine, the world knows Bordeaux, France, but few people know that in fact, Georgia is the birthplace of wine.

This West Asian country in the Caucasus Mountains, with a population of only 4.5 million, is like a small gravel on the vast Continent of Eurasia. However, in its 69,700 square kilometers of land, it has a long history and culture of wine, and has the unique conditions for grape growth.

Here, wherever you go, you'll be invited for a glass of wine and inadvertently find yourself already drunk in the mellow aroma of wine.

Brand · Primary

The Marani brand was born in this slightly drunken journey.

The journey begins at an altitude of more than 400 meters above sea level in the Kahki appellation, at the Qadari vineyards on the left bank of the Ulassani River and on the right bank of the Tsiv-Gombori mountains.

Under the influence of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, the climate transitioned from humid subtropics to continental nature, and cold air descended from glaciers down the valley, forming a microclimate suitable for the cultivation of high-quality grapes. The extreme temperature difference between day and night ensures the ripening conditions of high-quality grapes.

One golden morning at the end of September 1915, grapes were picked by hand in the snow-capped mountains and thick earth, which were sent to the cellars of Travi, the largest and most important capital city of Kakhki, in the middle of the Arazani Valley, and then broken and placed in the traditional clay pot "Kuiuri" buried in the ground, which was naturally fermented, giving birth to a unique local wine - "Marani".

"Marani" is a sacred place for every Georgian. Here, the grapes are collected, pressed and crushed in oak barrels and traditional clay pots (kvevri), and the grape juice is eventually converted into Georgian wine.

This glass of wine, mixed with an 8,000-year-old story, has the clarity of the snowy mountains, the thickness of the earth, and the vicissitudes of time. A small bite, but also a long aftertaste.

With this in mind, Marani has created a wide range of brands: clay pot wines, table wines, appellation wines, wines from specific growing regions, saturrabezo wines, distilled spirits - chacha, brandy, sparkling wines, all of which interpret the famous words of the famous French traveler Shardon in his travelogue of the 17th century - "No country produces wines of such quantity and quality as Georgia." ”

Thanks to his perseverance, Marani stands out in many international competitions: the International Wine Challenge, the International Wine and Spirits Competition, the Decanter World Wine Award, the Mundus ViniEmozioni Dal Mondo, the Vinalies International, the Mondial de Bruxelles... Fruitful and impressive.
