Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo Signed skates
Hello tourists, I am Hao Yuxin, a volunteer at the Xiamen Olympic Museum, and the collection on display here is the signed skates of Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo.
Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo is a Chinese figure skater for pair skaters. The two have been working together on ice for 18 years, winning the first figure skating Olympic gold medal in the history of Chinese sports at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
In 1992, Shen Xue was 14 years old When Zhao Hongbo was 19 years old, the two began their synchronized double skating career for the first time, and since then, they have never been separated. In 1994, the two stood on the stage of the World Championships for the first time, and only won 21 places, but attracted international attention. At the 1996 World Figure Skating Championships in Edmonton, Canada, Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo finished 15th overall, but it left a deep impression on people.
The progress of ice sports in China is extremely difficult. Especially in the ice doubles project, every time a progress is made, it is closely related to these two people. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Shin Xue/Zhao Hongbo finished fifth and became a springboard for their successful jump. They finished fourth at the following World Championships, and although they missed medals, these two achievements proved that they had begun to rank among the top skaters in the world.
Success is never all smooth sailing. After several hardships, in 2002, they initially mastered the action that no one in the world could ever do before - Shakhov jumped around. But at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, they failed and eventually won only bronze medals, the first medal won by Chinese pair skating at the Winter Olympics. At the 2003 Figure Skating World Championships, Shen Xue sprained his ankle and still insisted on participating with an injury. With tenacious will and fighting spirit, Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo won the World Championship championship for the second consecutive year. Touched the whole audience, but also touched the world.
After Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo's career has experienced countless hardships, setbacks, joys and happiness together, the love between the two along the way has finally matured. After the 2007 World Championships free skating competition, Zhao Hongbo romantically proposed to Shen Xue on one knee, achieving a beautiful marriage between the figure skating couple. On February 16, 2010, after 18 years of cooperation, he finally won the first gold medal in the history of Chinese sports in the figure skating Olympic Games! On the evening of September 4, 2010, Shen Xuezhao Hongbo completed their happy and romantic ice wedding celebration amid the warm applause and screams of about 18,000 spectators at the Beijing Capital Gymnasium.
This pair of skates was given to us by the two when they came to Xiamen in August 2011, which is not only a testimony to their career and perfect love, but also encourages more young people to devote themselves to ice and snow sports.
