On March 8, the final results of the 2022 World Women's Car Awards (WWCOTY) were announced, and the new Peugeot 308 defeated five other candidates to win the championship.
There were 65 candidates for the race this year, and in the first round, the best models in 6 categories were selected, namely the Kia Sportage, BMW iX, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Audi e-tron GT, Jeep Wrangler 4xe (Wrangler Insert) and the new Peugeot 308.
The jury gave the reason for the award: the Peugeot 308 is a car that meets almost all your needs, driving performance is excellent, it is difficult to believe that most configuration models only offer a 1.2T engine.
The new Peugeot 308 was officially released in 2021, the new car for the first time hung a new "lion" logo, the appearance also used the Peugeot family's new design language, equipped with a unique fangs front face and sharp LED light group shape. After the interior part is re-equipped with a new shape, the creation of a scientific and technological atmosphere is also very in place.
Currently, the new Peugeot 308 is sold in Europe as a hatchback and station wagon, but not in the Chinese market. The new model is available in 1.2T petrol engines, 1.5T diesel engines, and plug-in versions, with a drivetrain mated to a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.
The inaugural World Women's Automotive Awards (WWCOTY), officially held in 2009, are not about selecting cars that are suitable for women, but by female judges who specialize in the automotive industry or who are engaged in automotive journalists, and who select new cars that perform well from their perspectives. The results are usually announced on International Women's Day.
A total of 56 judges from 40 countries on 5 continents participated in the competition, including vehicle safety, cost performance, design and texture, and handling performance.
At the last Edition of the World Women's Car Awards in 2021, Land Rover's new Defender beat many models to win the title. In addition, the Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 also won the "Best Urban Sedan" and "Best Urban SUV" awards in the previous selection.
