In addition, this year, the Chinese Table Tennis Association released a public consultation draft on the official website of the selection methods for the Asian Games of table tennis projects. The WTT Singapore Grand Slam singles champion will go straight to the National Table Tennis Asian Games squad.
This makes the WTT Singapore Grand Slam competition even more intense. Winning the men's and women's singles titles is not only a matter of 2,000 ITTF ranking points and $100,000 in prize money. It can also be directly connected to the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. There are two places in the Asian Games for men's and women's singles. A Chinese athlete who won the WTT Grand Slam (Singapore) Men's and Women's Singles Championships and a Chinese athlete with the highest ranking in the World Singles Rankings in the 14th week of 2022 will directly qualify for the Asian Games.
In the team competition selection method, it is stipulated that Chinese athletes who have won the WTT Grand Slam (Singapore) men's and women's singles championships; or 3 Chinese athletes with the highest singles ranking in the 14th week of 2022 as the standard; or born after January 1, 1999, according to the world ranking in the 14th week of 2022, the chinese athlete with the highest singles ranking of 1 male and female can be directly shortlisted for the men's and women's team lineup.
According to the confirmed team and singles participation list, combined with the technical and tactical characteristics and expertise of relevant athletes and comprehensive consideration of physical fitness, the coaching team will nominate the list of doubles pairing suggestions; the selection work leading group will make a comprehensive assessment of the team project recommendation list of the Hangzhou Asian Games, and finally confirm the doubles event participation list.
The WTT Singapore Grand Slam is one of the "Four Slams" at the highest level in the WTT series, attracting athletes of the highest level worldwide in addition to having the highest prize money officially certified. The Chinese team sent a total of 16 players including Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun, Xu Xin, Lin Gaoyuan, Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Xiang Peng and Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, Wang Yidi, Chen Xingtong, Liu Shiwen, He Zhuojia and Ku Man.
If "veterans" such as Ma Long, Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen win the men's and women's singles championships, then their careers will add another brilliant stroke, and they will also pocket the gold medal of the Hangzhou Asian Games. If Chen Meng, Liang Jingkun and others are the main players to win the men's and women's singles championships, it will consolidate their main position in the national team and also make a good start for the Paris Olympic cycle. If lin shidong, Kuman and other young players won the men's and women's singles championships, they may have soared from then on, directly into the main ranks, becoming the most powerful contenders in the Paris Olympic cycle.
