On July 20, 2021, members of the Sunshine Social Practice Team of Lingnan Normal University's Foreign Chinese College went to Lindeng Village in Changpo Town, Gaozhou, Maoming, Guangdong Province, to provide volunteer teaching services.
Founded in 2015, under the guidance of the Party Committee of Changpo Town and the Higher Level Women's Federation, the Gaozhou Volunteer Changpo Volunteer Service Team has carried out activities such as "Weekly Kindness", "Monthly Care", "Poverty Alleviation and Relief to Poor Households", "Creation of Literature, Publicity of Creation and Health". The team members participated in the volunteer activities of college students and high school students "going to the countryside to support teaching" to tutor primary school students.
The student mentored by the team is a left-behind child whose parents go out to work and spend years with their grandmother. The team member said: "I teach the subject of Chinese, in the process of tutoring, students listen carefully to the lessons and read the texts. The children were shy at first, but then gradually became lively, knew a lot of new words, knew a lot of words how to read, I felt very fulfilled, very satisfied. ”
From this volunteer teaching activity, the members of the Sunshine Practice Team realized the importance of rural volunteer teaching, understood the spirit of hard-working struggle, and also used their own actions to promote the development of rural education.
