"How to use the musicals that young people like to express the heavy historical theme has always been a topic we want to explore." At the launching ceremony of the musical "Loyalty", An Dong, a professor in the Department of Music and Drama of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, said.
On May 21, the original musical "Loyalty" was launched. At the launching ceremony, the teachers and students of the Department of Shangyin Music and Drama successively brought the chorus "Wind and Rain Situation", the rotation singing of "Before and After", "Beautiful Life Has Nothing to Do with Me", the male and female vocal duets "Guardian", the male solo and choir "Choice", the male duet "The Meaning of Loyalty" and other paragraphs.
"Loyalty" tells the story of the Communists who, in order to avoid tens of thousands of core confidential documents of the Party Central Committee (known as the "Central Library" in the Party), went through the first domestic revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the War of Liberation, and relayed to protect, withstand tests, and complete their missions. This is the first time in the history of the stage that this legend in the history of the CCP's hidden front struggle has been shown in the form of a musical.
From the music director to the screenwriter, director, producer, dance director, vocal director, the main creative team in the play is from the upper tone. The cast team is also led by teachers and students of the Department of Shangyin Music and Drama, including Party member teacher Ma Liang, alumnus Xia Zhenkai, and popular players fang Shujian, Xu Junshuo and Hu Chaozheng of "Sound into People's Hearts", hoping to let young people move young people and let young people inspire young people.
The protagonist in the play is based on the guardians of the central library in the last century. In order to avoid the creation of facial characters, the main creative team dug deep into historical materials, searched for historical sites, visited the family members of the archetypal characters in the play, and listened to the expert opinions of the Party School of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Archives Bureau (Museum), and the Party History Research Office of the Municipal Party Committee.
"A song is a drama, and the plot is fully 'sung' is the characteristic of this play." As a music director, An Dong said that the musical style of the whole play is diverse, including musical elements such as rock, rap, pop, and national style, and even some humorous opera elements, and chorus, performance, and solo singing are always intertwined.
The Department of Shangyin Music and Drama regards this work as a graduation drama for 2021. In the design of music creation, the main creative team also fully considers the characteristics of students, the song and people coincide, the drama fits with people, the song is like its person, and the drama is like its person.
At the launching ceremony of the group, the crew also set up a temporary party branch. Combining artistic practice with ideological and political education is an immersive "music party lesson" for shangyin students.
As the 2020 Municipal Cultural and Educational Combination Funding Project and the first large-scale cultural funding project of the Shanghai Nine Trees Art Foundation, the "Loyalty" program debuted at the Fengxian Nine Trees Future Art Center in early July and landed at the Shangyin Opera House in October.
