Chairman Mao

preface

As an old comrade of Jinggangshan, Chairman Mao and Zeng Zhi had a deep affection and great trust in her.

In 1964, when Chen Yonggui introduced Zeng Zhi, Chairman Mao said: "This is Zeng Zhi, Jinggangshan, and now there are few people in Jinggangshan..."

This kind of trust in Chairman Mao may have been felt by Zeng Zhi long ago. Therefore, whenever Zeng Zhi encountered difficulties, the first thing that came to mind was Chairman Mao.

Zeng Zhi's name was crossed out, and he wrote a letter to Chairman Mao

In 1954, when the first people's congress was preparing, Zeng Zhi was recommended by the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee to serve as a deputy to the National People's Congress.

However, when the list reached Zeng Zhi's husband, Tao Zhu, Tao Zhu picked up a pen, crossed out the name of his wife Zeng Zhi, and wrote the names of others instead.

After Zeng Zhi learned of this matter, he was a little angry, so he asked her husband Tao Zhu for an explanation.

In this regard, Tao Zhu said: In order to take care of a comrade who was transferred to Beijing to work, he made his wife a deputy to the National People's Congress.

Tao Zhu's reason did not convince Zeng Zhi. In Zeng Zhi's view, the husband is "sacrificing" himself for his friends.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

In a fit of rage, Zeng Zhi wrote a letter to Chairman Mao and told him about his grievances.

However, Chairman Mao may have been too busy with his work to see the letter, and Zeng Zhi did not receive a reply. And that's how it went.

Zeng Zhi never imagined that his name would reappear on the list of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress a few years later. And all this thanks to Chairman Mao.

It turned out that when Chairman Mao was examining and approving the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in 1959, he saw that there was no Zeng Zhi's name, so he asked: "Why is there no Zeng Zhi in this list?" Comrade Zeng Zhi has done a very good job, and he can join the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress! ”

After speaking, Chairman Mao added Zeng Zhi's name. Zeng Zhi was very proud of this, because it can be seen from Chairman Mao's special addition of his own name that Chairman Mao affirmed his own strength.

Judging from the photos, Zeng Zhi when he was young had a beautiful appearance and was relatively quiet. But in fact, she is an unruly woman with firm convictions.

Zeng Zhi was originally born in a bureaucratic landlord family, the family is relatively wealthy, but Zeng Zhi does not have the squeamishness of Miss Qianjin at all. Such a character is also one of the important reasons why she embarked on the revolutionary road.

In 1926, when the tide of the Great Revolution swept through Hunan, Zeng Zhi, who was only 15 years old, was admitted to the Hengyang Peasant Movement Training Institute and changed his name from Zhaoxue to Zeng Zhi.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Zeng Zhi

The students wondered why she changed her name, and Zeng Zhi said proudly: "I want to fight for our female comrades!" ”

It was also this year that Zeng Zhi joined the Communist Party of China and became a radical revolutionary.

In 1928, Zeng Zhi participated in the famous Shonan Rebellion, during which her husband Xia Mingzhen was unfortunately killed.

Such bloodshed did not scare away Zeng Zhi, a seemingly weak woman on the outside, and her revolutionary convictions were still firm.

After that, Zeng Zhi became acquainted with Cai Xiemin and followed the Red Army to Jinggangshan. Pregnant, Zeng Zhi still did not stop the pace of the revolution, she participated in the huangyang boundary defense war, and then followed Chairman Mao to create the Fujian Eastern Soviet District.

Zeng Zhi not only has extraordinary courage and perseverance, but also her work ability is also very outstanding. In the case of competing with other male leaders to carry out their work, Zeng Zhi's division of the field movement and the work of the Eastern District have achieved good results, and everyone is very convinced of her.

Martyr Xia Mingzhen

In 1934, Zeng Zhi's husband, Cai Xiemin, was betrayed by traitors and died heroically.

Such a pain in the heart, Zeng Zhi experienced twice. However, she did not have much time to grieve, because the revolution had not yet succeeded.

Therefore, Zeng Zhi continued to bury his head in the revolution. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Zeng Zhi, then secretary of the Women's Committee of the Hubei Provincial CPC Committee, was dispatched by the party organization to come to the Jingmen area under the pseudonym "Zeng Xia".

Here, Zeng Zhi was responsible for reviving and developing party organizations, developing mass movements to resist Japan and save the dead, and secretly raising weapons.

This work is very difficult. Because Jingmen is a key place on the Hanyi Highway line, it is also a necessary passage to enter northwest Hubei in the west. Therefore, it is also an important target for the enemy to destroy.

Under the indiscriminate bombardment of the Japanese Kou, the once prosperous county town has almost become a ruin. All the Kuomintang county government organs here have been withdrawn, the people in the vicinity have also fled, and the shops and inns on the roadside have also closed their doors.

Under such circumstances, within tens of miles of Jingmen, it is not even possible to find a sip of water to drink, and it is even more difficult to eat.

But this did not bother Zeng Zhi.

Within a few days of coming to Jingmen, Zeng Zhi contacted the Communist Party members who had been hidden during the agrarian revolution and established the Central District Committee of Jingdangyuan in China, with her as the secretary of the Central County Party Committee.

At the same time, Zeng Zhi quickly organized staff to open a food and beverage point to buy porridge in Sanli Street, the north gate of Jingmen City, and also mobilized the masses to vacate houses to temporarily arrange accommodation. In addition, they also boiled boiling water on the side of the road and let the passing soldiers and civilians drink water for free.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Soon, with the efforts of Zeng Zhi and others, the problem of food and accommodation for the military and civilians was alleviated. This devastated city has also come back to life.

Later, Zeng Zhi successively became acquainted with the director of the political department of the Kuomintang Thirty-third Group Army and the chief of staff of the 59th Army of the Thirty-third Group Army. With their help, Zeng Zhi and others quickly gained a foothold in the Jingmen party member area.

Later, when Zhang Zizhong led his army to defend the Xianghe River, due to the urgent military situation, the group headquarters ordered the county government to organize forces to transport 200,000 kilograms of rice to the Dangyang River.

However, at that time, it was very difficult to complete this work.

The county magistrate, who was bitter for days, finally found Zeng Zhi through the introduction of someone. Soon, Zeng Zhi organized personnel, in the name of the office, to mobilize the local masses and actively participate in the transportation work. Soon, they formed a grain delivery team of more than 200 people.

In just half a month, Zeng Zhi helped the county magistrate complete the task of rushing military grain, and Zeng Zhi and others also became famous because of this incident.

In the summer of 1939, due to Chiang Kai-shek's secret telegrams to hunt down "different parties," Zeng Zhi came to Yan'an Marxist-Leninist College to study.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Chiang Kai-shek

Here, Zeng Zhi met Chairman Mao again.

After not seeing each other for a long time, Chairman Mao excitedly took Zeng Zhi's hand and said, "You are here, very good..."

During the conversation, Zeng Zhi learned that Chairman Mao had been inquiring about her and Cai Xiemin's whereabouts all these years, and Zeng Zhi was very touched, so he told Chairman Mao about his bitterness over the years.

Later, the Party Central Committee decided to send a group of cadres to the enemy's rear to strengthen the armed struggle. However, the organization stipulates that female comrades are not allowed to go on this mission.

After learning of this, Zeng Zhi resolutely disagreed. She went to Chairman Mao and made her mind clear that she wanted to continue to contribute to the revolution.

Because Zeng Zhi was very insistent, Chairman Mao could only promise her.

After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Zeng Zhi also made great contributions in the War of Liberation.

During the Liberation War, Zeng Zhi rode a war horse, heroically, galloping on the endless grassland.

At the time when the enemy army was fleeing, Zeng Zhi launched and commanded tens of thousands of migrant workers, running hundreds of miles overnight to prevent the enemy from fleeing.

After the situation changed, Zeng Zhi organized migrant workers to repair roads overnight to support the People's Liberation Army in rapidly pursuing the enemy army. During the winter offensive, Zeng Zhi once again organized 100,000 migrant workers to rush up hundreds of miles of highways to clear the ice and snow and clear the road to victory for our army.

Mr. and Mrs. Zeng Zhi

After the liberation of New China, Zeng Zhi could have stayed in Guangzhou with his husband and children and enjoyed the hard-won happiness of heaven.

However, for the development of new China, Zeng Zhi, who wanted to be strong, chose to continue to fight. At this time, she served as the deputy director of the Industry Department of the Central South Bureau, and concurrently served as the director of the Guangzhou Electric Power Industry Bureau and other positions, calmly commanding this huge military team and drawing a beautiful blueprint for new China.

Therefore, no matter from any aspect, Zeng Zhi, an old revolutionary, is fully qualified to serve as a deputy to the National People's Congress. Chairman Mao was well aware of this, and therefore he lamented: Zeng Zhi was too kind...

I'm ashamed to have done too little for the party

Although he made many contributions to the revolution, Zeng Zhi felt that he had done too little for the party.

On the occasion of zeng's 70th anniversary of joining the party, more than 60 friends held a celebration for her.

When the host read aloud the verses praising Zeng Zhi on the stage, Zeng Zhi first bowed deeply to everyone, and then said sincerely:

"I am ashamed that everyone celebrated me so enthusiastically, and I still did too little for the party!" Just an ordinary party member..."

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

But the fact is that for the sake of the party's revolutionary cause, Zeng Zhi not only rubbed shoulders with the god of death many times and almost lost her life, but at the same time, she also owed a lot to her children.

In 1928, on Jinggang Mountain, Zeng Zhi gave birth to his first child. Due to the harsh conditions at that time and the lack of medical treatment, Zeng Zhi not only had difficult childbirth, but also suffered from mastitis and puerperal fever and other diseases.

In the end, Zeng Zhijian relied on his tenacious vitality and escaped from the hands of the god of death with his children under the careful care of his comrades.

Because he was in a wartime state at that time and it was inconvenient to carry his children, Zeng Zhi could only endure the pain and tearfully sent the children who had not yet had a full moon to the guard company of Wang Zuo's troops, a deputy company commander surnamed Shi.

In July 1931, Zeng Zhi gave birth to his second child. Unfortunately, at that time, there was an epidemic of urticaria in Xiamen, and the child unfortunately contracted smallpox and died less than a month later.

Even so, Zeng Zhi could only endure grief, working as always during the day, and only at night did he have time to cry and vent his pain.

Two years later, Zeng Zhi gave birth to his third child. At this time, she was ordered to carry out guerrilla struggle in eastern Fujian. Therefore, Zeng Zhi once again endured the pain of giving the child, who had just been born 13 days ago, to a widow to raise.

The only child who survived safely and grew up next to Zeng Zhi was his daughter Tao Siliang. However, in order to carry out the anti-Japanese struggle behind enemy lines, Zeng Zhi once again bid farewell to his newborn daughter with tears.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Zeng Zhi's family

As a mother, Zeng Zhi also did not want to be separated from his daughter. However, in Zeng Zhi's view, he is not only a mother, but also a warrior. Warriors should gallop on the battlefield, even if they are ultimately sacrificed.

Therefore, Zeng Zhi has always felt that she cares too little for her children, and she wants to work hard to make up for this debt.

After retirement, when he should have enjoyed his old age in peace, Zeng Zhi took the initiative to take on housework.

Although she has the ministerial treatment of the Central Organization Department, whether it is buying vegetables or other things, Zeng Zhi is personally involved, she neither bothers the driver, nor bothers anyone in the family, and looks like she is giving up on me.

Sometimes, to buy household necessities, you need to run a long way. But Zeng Zhi still refused to call the driver, but like ordinary people, he squeezed the bus.

At that time, people took the bus and did not keep order as they do now, and when the bus came, everyone rushed up like a swarm.

In this case, Zeng Zhi, who is already old, will often fall behind at the end. Once, Zeng Zhi's feet had just gotten into the carriage, and he only went in half of his body, and the driver did not see the situation clearly, so he closed the door.

In this way, Zeng Zhi's head was clamped heavily by the car door. When the other passengers who were evacuated saw it, they shouted, "Catch the people..."

Taos Liang

After returning home, Zeng Zhi felt uncomfortable in his head and went to the hospital for an examination. Eventually, it was diagnosed with a concussion.

Zeng Zhi, who has experienced countless ups and downs, asked everyone: "You help me see if my head has been flattened?" ”

Since her daughter Tao Siliang was a doctor, she told her mother very affirmatively: "No, it is impossible." ”

Zeng Zhi put his mind at ease.

Although Zeng Zhi's salary is not low, she is frugal and frugal, and she is not willing to let her children pay for meals, all of which is her salary. It was a wordless love for her children.

However, because Zeng Zhi maintained the hard work style of the revolutionary period, a family of five or six people could have two or three dishes per meal.

The plastic sheet on the dining table at home, although it has turned yellow, brittle, there are many marks, and even cracks. However, Zeng Zhi was still unwilling to change to a new one. The son-in-law originally wanted to buy a new one for her mother-in-law, but was dissuaded by Tao Siliang. Because she knew her mother's temper too well. If she bought a new one, she wouldn't use it.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Zeng Zhi and his family

Such a frugal life, a Taiwanese friend of Tao Siliang was greatly shocked, seeing that there was no decent furniture in the room, he sighed: "I did not expect the senior cadres of the Communist Party to live like this!" ”

Although Zeng Zhi felt indebted to his children, he wanted to do his best to make up for them. However, Zeng Zhi will not open a back door for children because he loves them.

As mentioned above, Zeng Zhi's first child was sent away not long after he was born. After the founding of New China, Zeng Zhi also searched in many ways and finally successfully found it.

Zeng Zhi was strong in life, but when she saw the child she had not seen for many years, she still couldn't help but cry, her emotions were complicated, and she couldn't say a word.

Due to the poverty of his adoptive parents, Zeng Zhi's son, Shi Laifa, although he is more than 20 years old, cannot even write his own name, but is just a simple farmer.

Looking at the child, Zeng Zhi was very distressed. Originally, Zeng Zhi wanted to keep the child by his side, take care of him, and let him go to night school to learn knowledge.

However, in the end, Zeng Zhi did not leave the child behind. Because, Shi Laifa also has an old grandmother who raised him, more than 80 years old, who needs to be taken care of.

Therefore, Zeng Zhi said that he could not take the love of others, the old man had raised children for so many years, he had feelings, and they needed him now.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Zeng Zhi took a group photo with the children

So, after the mother and son saw each other in a hurry, they separated.

Later, when Shi Laifa was working as a bookkeeper in the village, he had fifty cents on the account, and he was worried about getting into trouble, so he ran to Guangzhou to find Zeng Zhi for "refuge".

Zeng Zhi threw the child back. She said: "Whether you have embezzled public funds or not, you must go back and make things clear, and you cannot escape the problem..."

In this way, although Shi Laifa had a mother who "became a high official", he worked as a farmer in Jinggangshan all his life.

In 1985, Jinggangshan's grandson came to Beijing to find Zeng Zhi's grandmother, and wanted Zeng Zhi to help solve the family's commodity grain account. After Zeng Zhi heard this request, he did not speak for a long time.

As a mother, as a grandmother, Zeng Zhi felt that he owed his children. But as a party member, she has her own principles to stick to. At this time, she should have a very complicated mood. In the end, Zeng Zhi strictly adhered to his bottom line and did not open a back door for his son and grandson.

In the eyes of some people, Zeng Zhi is a person who has made contributions to the revolution, and solving such a small problem for his family is nothing.

However, Zeng Zhi did not take his credit to heart. In her view, millions of people paid the price of their lives for the success of the revolution. Many of her comrades-in-arms did not even have the opportunity to take a look at new China and enjoy the beauty of the peaceful era.

In 1959, Chairman Mao examined and approved the list of members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and asked: Why is there no Zeng Zhi? She did a great job

Zeng Zhi took a group photo with her husband

And she herself, being able to survive, is already very happy. Therefore, Zeng Zhi called himself a survivor of the revolution. She told her family: "As a child of our family, we should know how to reciprocate..."

On June 21, 1998, Zeng Zhi died in Beijing Hospital. Before dying, Zeng Zhi left a will:

"After I die, I will not hold a memorial service, do not hold a farewell ceremony for the remains, and do not set up a spiritual hall at home. Family members outside Beijing, don't come to Beijing for funerals. Comrades-in-arms in Beijing, do not disturb the notice. The remains are sent to the hospital for autopsy, useful remains, useless cremation..."

In this way, Zeng Zhi'an left quietly and innocently.

It is worth noting that after Zeng Zhi left, the children found a yellowed bag in her belongings, which contained more than 80 envelopes neatly arranged, all of which were Zeng Zhi's salary bags.

On the bag, there was also a note that read: "Please forward it to those who need it..."

At this point, the children finally understood that Zeng Zhiping was thrifty and thrifty, and it was originally to help more people.

She was a true revolutionary, a true Communist, and it was no wonder that Chairman Mao did not hesitate to add Zeng Zhi's name.
