Later, I saw that Beyond's former agent, Jiantian Chen, also posted on social media about this matter. It turned out that he had heard the news one night earlier, and it had taken him several hours to verify, and finally proved that the matter was true.
According to Chen Shi'an's middle school teacher at the funeral mass, Chen Shi'an died of cancer at the age of 59 and was buried on February 19.
Speaking of this Chen Shi'an, it may take more senior B fans to know that I introduced in a previous article "BEYOND Member Replacement Full Record" that he is the third lead guitarist of the band, that is, the previous one of Huang Guanzhong. He spent his time in the team from 1984-1985 and stayed for about a year. Just before BEYOND held the "Forever Waiting Concert", he left the band, which led to the addition of Huang Guanzhong.
Chen Shi'an left the team because of academic reasons, and he went to study abroad. At first, Huang Jiaju was quite reluctant to him, because Chen Shi'an was very talented. Jiaju said that he played the guitar well, was very "in tune with himself", and played well in lyrics, arrangement, composition, and English skills were also very good...
Chen Shi'an should be the most talented person in the early BEYOND besides Jiaju. He collaborated with Iegama on songs such as "Myth", "Long Way Without Friends", "Forever Waiting", and the earlier "Mansion" and "Brain Invasion" were also involved in the creation. He is usually responsible for lyrics, but also participates in the arrangement and composition of music, and his creative talent is quite outstanding.
"Myth" and "Long Way Without Friends", two English songs, as well as "Always Waiting", are one of the favorite tracks of many veteran B fans, of which "Long Way Without Friends" was later filled in Chinese Cantonese lyrics, that is, "Oriental Treasure".
After Chen Shi'an left, Jiaju kept thinking about him. I remember that in 1989, Jiaju also told everyone about this departed friend at the "BEYOND Real Witness Concert", and sang a song they co-wrote "Myth" to send to him from afar, wishing him more success in his studies.
Many years later, Chen Shi'an returned to China, and it is said that he still has contacts with old friends such as Jiaju and Shirong, but he may not continue to engage in the music industry, coupled with his low-key personality, so we have hardly heard from him again.
Speaking of which, Chen Shi'an is the most low-key and mysterious of all the members before and after BEYOND!
Put it this way, no one has seen his photo on the Internet so far, whether it is a personal photo or a PHOTO OF BEYOND, you can't find a trace of him.
