"Terror is one of the strongest emotions of human beings", since the 1970s, Hong Kong films have favored horror elements, this trend has continued until the early 80s and early 90s, and film and television works with ghost content have always occupied a considerable share of Hong Kong films.
But since the end of the 1990s, Hong Kong films have begun to decline, and a group of Hong Kong directors as "pillars" have struggled quite hard. While seeking help from overseas, they also want to preserve the local characteristics of their works from "roots".
This kind of exploration made breakthrough progress in 2002. This year, not only Taiwanese art director Chen Guofu, for the first time, filmed the Thriller "Double Pupil" with Chinese elements, making it a pioneering classic of New Era Horror Harbor films.
At the same time, director Chen Kexin, who has been indulging in romance films, has also shifted his attention to the field of horror movies. And the big director has a big move as soon as he shoots, and his first horror film "Sangen" is produced together with Korean director Kim Ji-woon and Thai director Lance Nimebida.
The three of them have directed three different regional oriental horror stories, South Korea's "Amnesia", which has their own unique suspense color, but unfortunately the story is too illusory, the bloody form is greater than the theme content, and it is particularly insensitive after watching.
Thailand's "Reincarnation" is playing a variety of puppet curse routines, the story itself is featureless, making people wonder if Thai horror films have nothing else to shoot except these?
No wonder so many years have passed, but when people mention this horror collection movie "Three More", they only analyze Chen Kexin's "Homecoming" as the key content, it is really three stories, only this story has connotation and is worth re-brushing.
Before Chen Kexin made this movie, the film list in his hand was some romantic films such as "Sweet Honey", "Love Letters" and "Twelve Nights", so he began to direct horror films in 2002, which surprised people in the circle.
And after this "Three More", Chen Kexin seems to be fascinated by horror movies, and follow-up also supervised the production of "Seeing Ghosts", "Seeing Ghosts 2", "Three More 2", but it must be admitted that the director who is obsessed with love in his bones has made the best horror film "Three More Homecoming", which is also related to love.
The film takes the relocation of the down-and-out policeman Ah Wei as a clue, so that he and his son live in this demolition tube building full of strange atmosphere, and next to the father and son, is the only guest who has not moved here, the doctor Yu Hui's family.
At the beginning, "Homecoming" seems to tell the story of a ghost building, because except for the administrator, it is an empty and uninhabited corridor. Even when the administrator knew that Ah Wei's identity was a policeman, he nagged that maybe the police could calm down here.
The next story unfolds from the perspective of Ah Wei's son Xiaoxiang, a child with pure eyes who can see that adults cannot see "things", and as soon as he came here, he saw a little girl dressed in red on the roof of the building.
The little girl was always with the doctor and the couple, and he naturally thought that this little girl was their daughter.
In such a space where no one plays, Xiaoxiang is lonely, and finally one day the little girl took the initiative to find him to play in the photo studio, and since then Xiaoxiang has disappeared.
In fact, the movie is only the beginning of the movie here, and all the stories begin with the police officer Ah Wei knocking on the doctor's door. He asked Yu Hui if he had seen his son, and after receiving a negative answer, he found that the little girl his son often mentioned was not at home, and became suspicious of the doctor.
As a policeman, Ah Wei took advantage of Yu Hui's absence to sneak into their room and accidentally discovered the earth-shattering secret.
Yu Hui's wife turned out to be a female corpse, and this doctor, who has been in a wheelchair for many years, lives like a real couple. Unfortunately, before he could question Yu Hui, he was knocked unconscious, and when he woke up, he was tied up by Yu Hui, restricting his freedom.
But strangely enough, the doctor clearly didn't want to be the killer. Not only did he take care of him to eat and drink, but he also cured his asthma.
At the same time, he has been healing his dead wife and has repeatedly insisted that he is reviving his wife.
The story is placed here, with a very mysterious theme, that is, "resurrection from the dead". Obviously, Ah Wei, as a policeman, did not believe it, but Yu Hui, as a doctor, did not believe it.
At this point in the plot, not only does the theme of the story begin to become unpredictable, but the performance of the two male protagonists, including a female corpse, is also more exciting. The doctor Mu Ne, played by Dawn, is focused, while the policeman played by Zeng Zhiwei retains the joy of his actor's personality.
In the process of being tied up, these two male characters not only have life communication, such as Yu Hui using a urinal pot for Ah Wei to solve physiological problems, putting the intimate details of life directly into the camera, and then being revealed by Li Ming and Zeng Zhiwei, two actors with different characteristics, with strange tension.
In the end, the story waited until the day of the resurrection of the three years, but Yu Hui was very sad, and before his wife could be resurrected, he was arrested by the police who came to the door.
The climax is in the next section, where the wife, who was supposed to be a corpse, blinks her eyes, as if to indicate to the audience that the wife can really be resurrected.
But the police made all this a bubble, and the doctor arrested by the police could only frantically chase after his wife's body, and finally was killed by a speeding car.
When the two corpses are in the morgue, the close-up is given in the camera, which is obviously the tears in the corners of the corpse's wife's eyes, once again emphasizing that Yu Hui used herbs to resurrect his wife, and he is truly redeeming his wife.
The story then explains a series of details, such as the fact that the wife once took care of her husband for three years to revive him; or that the little girl was a stillborn child of her wife.
In the end, the story gives the ending of a family of three taking a family portrait in a photo studio, with happiness in the weird, which should be the real core that director Chen Kexin wants to express, love can transcend all obstacles, but you must firmly believe in yourself.
