Xiong Qingquan was born in 1927 to a peasant family in Hunan.
In that era, peasants would always suffer all kinds of bullying and oppression from landlords, and Xiong Qingquan's parents were no exception, which led xiong Qingquan to hate landlords from an early age and vowed to change the existing situation.
Although his family was poor, his parents did not stop Xiong Qingquan's desire to study, and later, with Xiong Qingquan's efforts, he successfully entered the National Normal College, which was also the predecessor of Hunan University.
When he went to the National Normal College, he had the opportunity to be exposed to advanced ideas, so he participated in the revolutionary movement with his classmates many times, the most famous of which was to join the underground organization of our party, "Fang Sheng Society", where he met a group of people of insight who worked hard together for a new China and a new future.
Finally, in 1949, under the introduction of his predecessors, he joined the Communist Party and became a glorious Communist Party member. After the founding of New China, he once again returned to his hometown, starting from the grassroots, promoting the development of his hometown and contributing to the people of his hometown, staying here for 45 years.
At first, he was sent to Hengshan County, where he served as an office secretary, mainly engaged in grassroots work. Really dealing with ordinary people, even some trivial things, also belongs to his work category.
But we all know that this kind of work is the most training people, in the process of dealing with the people and helping them solve problems, Xiong Qingquan's ability has been greatly exercised, and he has also accumulated a lot of grass-roots work experience, which has also laid a solid foundation for his future work.
Because of his serious and responsible work, his performance has been very good, and he has been unanimously praised by the local people, and his ability has also been recognized by the leadership, so he has been promoted many times, all the way from secretary to secretary of the prefectural party committee.
During this period, a major event occurred that Made Xiong Qingquan unforgettable, that is, when he was working once, he suddenly received the guidance of Chairman Mao, who fully affirmed him after listening to his work report and also took photos with him. Later, this photo Xiong Qingquan has been treasured, and he said that he would leave it to his descendants and let them pass it on. This photograph is both a memory and an honor for him, and after that, in his work, he often remembered Chairman Mao Zedong's earnest teachings to himself, "Do not forget the original intention to serve, seek truth from facts for the people."
In 1988, at the age of 61, Xiong Qingquan was promoted to secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and during the critical period of the mainland's reform and opening up, Xiong Qingquan led all parts of Hunan to vigorously carry out construction, which promoted the great strides forward of Hunan's economy.
Hunan is mountainous, rainy, early summer, flood disasters occur frequently, Xiong Qingquan was promoted to secretary, vigorously built culverts, dredged the river, basically solved the flood problem in Hunan. Later, Comrade Deng Xiaoping inspected the work in Hunan, and Xiong Qingquan, as the local responsible person, received his elderly family, during which Xiong Qingquan put forward his own views on the development of Hunan and the reform of the whole country, which was praised by Deng Xiaoping.
In addition, during his work, Xiong Qingquan also met the famous "father of hybrid rice" Yuan Longping, and the two quickly became close friends, and Xiong Qingquan was very supportive of Yuan Longping's work. Lack of funds on the rush to allocate funds, lack of talent immediately recruit talents, he can be described as unconditional support for Yuan Longping's work, so that Yuan Longping can focus on research. He once said: "Yuan Longping's work is a great thing for the benefit of the country and the people, I don't understand scientific research, so the only thing I can do is to give him the greatest help and let him do research without worries." ”
In addition to his focus on rice research, he also pays great attention to the improvement of education. During his tenure, he founded the Teacher Rewards Foundation to reward outstanding teachers who have made outstanding contributions to education. In addition, he has given strong support to farmers in the farming industry. At the age of 84, he also personally wore overalls and accompanied by staff to the breeding farm to inspect the breeding situation of hunan black cattle.
During his reign, he made outstanding contributions to the economy of Hunan, and after retirement, he still cares about the country and the people. After his retirement, Xiong Qingquan fell in love with calligraphy and painting, and for this reason he also studied with the famous painting master Huang Yongyu to learn painting techniques from him. Master Huang Yongyu once said sarcastically, this is my oldest apprentice. It can be seen that Xiong Qingquan's spirit of study has been brought from school to work to life.
After completing his studies, Xiong Qingquan painted many works, and he also opened a painting exhibition for this purpose, which was visited by many people and bought paintings. But he did not put all the proceeds in his own pocket, but used it to donate to the children in poor areas, and he also set up a hope primary school to provide those children with the opportunity to go to school.
Today, Xiong Qingquan is 95 years old, but he still contributes to the country in his own way.
