Text 3 ,"Speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art, 25th Anniversary of Publication", is the first set of stamps based on Mao Zedong's writings. Mao Zedong's "Speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art" (hereinafter referred to as the "Speech") was published at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art on May 2 and May 23, 1942, and consisted of two parts: "Introduction" and "Conclusion". In the "Introduction," Mao Zedong explained the purpose and requirements of convening the literary and art forum, and put forward the position, attitude, and target of work of literary and art workers. In the "Conclusion," Mao Zedong made a concluding speech in five aspects on the two central issues of literature and art, "for the masses" and "how to serve the masses," put forward some theoretical and practical issues in the proletarian literary and artistic movement, and clearly put forward the direction of literature and art serving the workers, peasants, and soldiers.
At that time, Lin Biao, Jiang Qing, and others took the opportunity of commemorating the 25th anniversary of the publication of the "Speech" to make a big fuss, accusing the literary and art circles of refusing to implement the "proletarian revolutionary literary and artistic line" put forward by Mao Zedong in the "speech" after the founding of New China, and "being monopolized by a black line opposed to Chairman Mao's thought against the party and anti-socialism." On May 23, 1967, people's daily published an editorial entitled "The Guiding Light of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution," calling the republished speech by Mao Zedong "another programmatic document" guiding the Cultural Revolution.
This set of stamps was included in the 1967 Stamp Selection Scheme and has been in total for 3 stamps since the beginning of the year. The first and second pictures are excerpts from two excerpts from Mao Zedong's "Speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art", and the second picture is "Mao Zedong Thought Literature and Art Propaganda Team". On May 22, 1967, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued the "Notice on Issuing Stamps commemorating the Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the Publication of the Speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art", which emphasized: "Chairman Mao's brilliant work has geniusly and creatively developed the Marxist-Leninist world outlook and literary and artistic theory, and is an epoch-making and important document." This work makes the most comprehensive, profound, and systematic scientific summary of the struggle between the two classes, two lines, and two world outlooks on the cultural front; it is the programmatic document of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution; it is the most complete, thorough, and correct Marxist-Leninist literary and artistic line put forward for the first time in the history of the proletarian cultural revolution; and it is the most powerful weapon for defeating modern revisionism and bourgeois ideology of all kinds. The circular emphasizes the class struggle on the literary and artistic front throughout, and the word "most" is used in a row. The two quotations in the stamp emphasize the class nature of the direction of literature and art, and the other emphasize the struggle of the role of literature and art. In the pattern of the "Mao Zedong Thought Propaganda Brigade", the green military uniform and red armband hold aloft Mao Zedong's writings, holding aboard of "Quotations of Chairman Mao" in hand, and lining it with red flags, which is very characteristic of the "Cultural Revolution.".
