It was formerly known as the Gaiping County Simple Normal School Attached Junior High School, which was established in 1910, and later became a complete middle school. In 1978, it was designated as a high school and renamed Gaixian No. 1 Senior High School. In November 1992, it was renamed as Gaizhou No.1 Senior High School. In 1999, it was designated as a key high school in Yingkou City. In December 2003, it was designated as a demonstration high school in Liaoning Province.
The rate of one-time online college entrance examination reached 100%, and the undergraduate rate was stable at more than 96%. In 2002, 723 undergraduate students entered the first and second batches of the college entrance examination.
