Before the vote began, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison delivered an 11-minute speech in his office, saying, "We know very well what Australia needs to host a successful Olympics." In the ensuing vote, Brisbane won the vote 72-5 (3 abstained), with Morrison holding his arms high and giving two thumbs up to indicate victory.
In fact, such an outcome will not come as a surprise, the IOC in 2019 reformed the production mechanism of the Olympic games, no longer using the previous model of identifying several official candidate cities and then voting. The IOC established the "Olympic Venue Committee" to replace the previous "Evaluation Committee" to recommend multiple or individual candidate cities to the IOC Executive Board, and Brisbane was the first city to be recommended in this way.

The next three Olympic Games were held in wealthy and traditional Host Countries (Paris, Los Angeles and Brisbane), which also provided strong stability for the IOC to host the Games.
It is worth mentioning that the last time Australia hosted the Olympic Games was in 2000, when Sydney also won the right to host under Coates' planning. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said: "We know the impact on Sydney more than two decades ago was transformative and now we can expect this scene to be repeated across Brisbane and Queensland. Brisbane's hosting of the 2032 Olympics will bring $6.1 billion worth to Queensland and $13.4 billion to Australia. There is nothing wrong with the IOC picking the best cities for hosting the Games, but this approach has also sparked debate about its legitimacy.
