Geoffrey William Arnold Dummer was born on February 25, 1909, a British electronics engineer and consultant who is considered the first person to conceptualize and build a prototype of an integrated circuit, often referred to as the father of microchips. Born in Hull, Yorkshire, England, Doumer began studying electrical engineering at Manchester Technical College in the early 1930s. By the early 1940s, he began working at Malvern's telecommunications research institute, working on integrated circuits.
