The number of children admitted to hospitals due to COVID-19 has skyrocketed
To care for more children infected with COVID-19, three hospitals in Singapore have increased the number of beds in their paediatric departments or developed coping plans.
In the past two weeks, the number of children admitted to the hospital due to coronary disease has exploded in the past two weeks. On the 14th and 20th of this month, 52 children were admitted to the hospital, 16 more than the previous week. To meet the demand, the hospital opened an additional ward and increased the number of paediatric beds from 58 to 86.
KK Women's and Children's Hospital is working closely with the Ministry of Health to meet the medical needs of pediatric patients. The hospital did not want to say how many beds were reserved for children infected with the crown disease, but only revealed that in the past two months, the number of children admitted to the hospital due to the crown disease has more than doubled. The hospital has developed a plan to cope with the increase in patients.
NUS Hospital said it had reopened a ward to care for families infected with the coronavirus. The hospital is also ready to convert the existing beds into isolation beds for patients with coronary disease.
Wang Yikang called on medical staff to "please hold on a little longer"
Health Minister Wang Yikang sent a letter to the medical staff saying he would "continue to give the greatest support" to help them "get through this difficult period".
The Ministry of Health published the contents of Wang Yikang's letter to the media. He wrote that healthcare workers face a huge workload due to the surge in op-Kerong cases; the government will do everything in its power to support them, such as ensuring that they are prioritized vaccinations and supplements, allowing COVID-19 patients to seek medical treatment at COVID-19 treatment facilities and general clinics to disperse cases, and making difficult decisions about hospitals' policies prohibiting visitors.
In the next few days, Wang Yikang wrote, public information will be launched to encourage patients with mild symptoms to recover at home and employers not to require sick leave slips from employees diagnosed with the crown disease.
At the request of the Federation of Health Service Employees, sick leave taken by health care workers during this period may be recorded as hospital leave.
As for our expatriate colleagues, we will start vaccinated people with the Philippines on the VTL route and restore VTL quotas with India.
A volunteer team of medical care is being mobilized and has sought support from the Singapore Armed Forces to alleviate the manpower shortage.
Wang Writes that the public must understand that the risk of contracting Opmiqueron is no more serious than that of Delta. In this way, you can calmly respond to this wave of outbreaks, recovering at home when symptoms are mild, rather than rushing to the hospital.

The small measures have not had a significant impact on the current trend of the epidemic. Authorities want the public to know that restrictions on the number of people gathering, mask wearing and differential measures for vaccinators still help to reduce transmission. That is why we have not adapted these measures. But we should simplify other measures.
Wang Believes covid-19 cases in Singapore should fall in the coming weeks, or even rapidly.
Please hold on a little longer. The situation in Singapore can no longer be described by the light at the end of the tunnel, but unless there is an unforeseen situation, it is within our control.
Please thank you on our behalf to the families who have supported you during this difficult time, take care, thank you.
