According to the data, the "tiger baby" was first discovered in October 2014, at that time, just left the tigress, in the sub-adult stage, the "tiger baby" began to run through the "rivers and lakes" alone, all the way to the Huangnihe Nature Reserve in Jilin Province, and was photographed by the far infrared camera.
And it is worth mentioning that the first time the "tiger baby" hunted alone, it turned out to be the big yellow cattle raised by the local villagers, and also bitten 3 cattle in one breath, and the far infrared camera around it also filmed the scene of its "crime", and after a full meal, as if worried that she would not have food for the next meal, the "tiger baby" actually wanted to drag away the remains of the leftover cattle.
Therefore, the staff of the reserve named this little tiger "Tiger Baby" and began to pay attention to it. It is worth mentioning that the "Tiger Baby" did not leave the Huangnihe Nature Reserve, but chose to "settle down" here, which also provided a basis for the staff to study and observe the "Tiger Baby" for many years after that.
Of course, because the Huangnihe Nature Reserve itself is very rich in animal resources, so even if it does not hunt livestock, the "tiger baby" is not worried about eating and drinking, so in the days after the "tiger baby", the food source becomes the wild boar, roe deer, etc. in the mountains, and constantly leaves its own smell to expand the territory, warning other wild Siberian tigers not to come closer.
So, does the "Tiger Baby" already have offspring in the Huangnihe River Conservation Area?
Some time ago, the far-infrared camera of the Huangnihe Nature Reserve found the abnormal behavior of the "Tiger Baby", because it actually ran all the way in the snow and ran along the highway to the edge of the suburbs of Jilin City.
You know, this is a distance of tens of kilometers from the place where it usually moves, and the staff of the reserve also feel very strange about such a move, after all, in the past many years, the "Tiger Baby" has never had a similar move, so what does the "Tiger Baby" want to do?
Some staff speculate that it is possible that the "tiger baby" has not been able to find a girlfriend for many years, so it is "tiger to middle age", hoping to get rid of the problem of singleness, and will leave the "comfortable area" where he has lived for many years, hoping to find a new habitat, so as to have his own offspring as soon as possible.
It can also be seen from here that although in recent years, the number of wild Siberian tigers on the mainland is increasing, but the distribution of each wild Siberian tiger is actually "fragmented", taking the Huangnihe River Protected Area where the "Tiger Baby" lives, although the "Tiger Baby" has been leaving its own smell everywhere and wants to warn other male tigers not to come closer, in fact, since the appearance of the "Tiger Baby" in 2014, it is still the only wild Siberian Tiger that has appeared here.
A similar situation also appeared in the wild Siberian tiger "Wandashan No. 1" that was released last year, because after more than 8 months of release in the wild, "Wandashan No. 1" was also a lonely and unable to find a girlfriend.
Therefore, researchers are also very worried, thinking that the fragmentation of the habitat of this wild Siberian tiger may make wild Siberian tigers risk going to unsafe places for their own lifelong events, after all, the threat of poaching still exists, so once they enter the "monitoring blind spot", then, wild Siberian tigers such as "Tiger Baby" are not absolutely safe.
So, how exactly should we protect wild Siberian tigers in mainland China so that they can meet and reproduce during the breeding season? At present, one of the more credible ways is to open up the habitat of wild Siberian tigers currently known on the mainland, so that these habitats will be distributed from fragmentation and become a whole again, so that the "tiger babies" will be safer on the way to find a mate.
