The use of sequential strengthening of immunization has two main purposes: one is that different vaccines can complement each other's advantages, and the other is that individual physiques are different and may have more side effects on a certain type of vaccine, and vaccination using different technical routes can avoid side effects.
Wang Huaqing, chief expert of the immunization program of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that some countries in the Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia have begun to implement sequentially strengthen immunization. The World Health Organization supports flexible homologous vaccines and heterologous vaccination programmes. For countries considering heterologous vaccination regimens, follow-up doses of COVID-19 vaccines with a different technical route than the first dose are recommended.
