During the Qing Dynasty, Wuwei County, the capital of Liangzhou, successively established four major official academies, as follows:

1. Chengzhang College

Chengzhang Academy The academy was founded in the 43rd year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1704) by Wu Tingshi of Liangzhuang Province. Its site is in the northeast corner of the city.

2. Tianti Academy

Tianti Academy In May of the 37th year of Qianlong (1772), Gu Guangxu of Ganliang Province changed chengzhang academy to Tianti academy.

3. Beiming Academy

Beiming Academy In the seventh year of Qianlong (1742), it was founded by Ouyang Yongcheng in Yongchang Fort (now Yongchang Town), 30 miles north of the city, as a county-governing academy, which was changed to a junior primary school in the early years of the Republic of China.

4. Yongliang Academy

Yongliang Academy In the first year of Guangxu (1875), it was built by Ganliang Road Garrison Chengdingkang donating 1,000 taels of silver to purchase a private house, which was built as a Fuzhi Academy.
