Contest Rules

The NBA All-Star Rookie Challenge changed the format and started in tournament mode for the first time, with a total of 28 players participating, including 12 NBA first- and second-year players each, and 4 development league ignition team players, each team 7 players. Four of the NBA's top 75 names are Rick Barry, Isaiah Thomas, Gary Payton and James Worthy.

The tournament mode is divided into 3 matches, consisting of two semi-finals and one final, with a semi-final target score of 50 points, which leads to the team winning. The final started from 50-50 with a target score of 25 points, and the team that reached 75 points first won the championship.

The two teams started with a three-pointer, Bay broke through the layup to help Thomas hit the first goal, Sagas received a 2-pointer in the air, Stewart hit the inside line, and Green continued to fight with three points. Bay and Stewart dunked back-to-back dunks, Sagas hit a three-pointer, and Green made a layup and three-pointers to help Varcy gain a five-point advantage. Bay's three-pointer tied with Stewart's dunk, Sagas and Bay's dunk and Edwards' dunk and layup rebounded by four points. Sagas continued to dunk, Stewart hit in the air, and Green hit a layup into the timeout. Bain hit two consecutive three-pointers, Harry Burton dunked and Thomas extended their 29-19 lead.

Sagas and Green each hit a three-pointer, Bate hit a shot, and Achuva scored four straight points to continue his 10-point lead. Jones hit a 5-point deficit with Beauchamp's three-pointer, Stewart dunked, Green dunked four points in a row with Big Windmill. Hardy hit a layup, Worthy stopped Thomas with a 6-0 comeback, Achuva hit a layup, and Green and Bay scored a three-pointer. Gidy missed two free throws, Bain hit a layup, Sagas three-pointers and connecting Anthony dunked, Bain was snatched by a mistake, and Sagas received the ball and was hit by two free throws for tactical fouls to maintain a 49-46 lead. Bay broke through to a layup to chase the score, Green three points three points, Bain caused Sargus to foul two free throws to complete the final, and finally Thomas reversed the 50-49 victory over Varcy to advance to the final.
