His father, Rob Tenzin, was a famous "King of Rice Dumplings" in Bailang County, Shigatse, Tibet, and the "Luodan Rice Dumplings" he founded sold well in the Tibetan market. At that time, this peasant, who had only read for 3 years, took advantage of the good policy of reform and opening up to run transportation, process barley, sell rice dumplings, and set up a rice dumpling processing factory.

In entrepreneurship, Rob Tenzin often felt the pain of not having culture. He taught 6 children to study hard and receive a higher level of education. The eldest son, Tashi Dunzhu, was admitted to Beijing Jiaotong University in 2008 and began a modern life in the metropolis.

On the eve of his son's graduation from college, Rob Tenzin had plans to let him go home and take over his career.

Father and son quarrel over this. Tashi Dunzhu, who had been studying abroad, was already unfamiliar with farming and harvesting grain, and even suggested that his father change his career.

A long conversation between father and son in the field made Tashi Dunzhu finally "obey" his father.

The story they talked about took place in 2005. At that time, due to the difficulty of capital turnover, the processing plant founded by Rob Tenzin almost went out of business. At this time, many people spontaneously sent grain, coupled with the relevant departments to help raise funds and contact the market to find sales, the factory eventually came back to life.

"Speaking of this, my father was particularly excited, saying that grinding the barley in the field into rice dumplings and selling them was not simply to make a difference, but to increase the added value, increase the barley, the labor of the people, and the added value of the land." Tashi Dunzhu said that when he heard the three words "added value", his heart was strongly impacted and he decided to start "embracing" the long-lost barley field.

In the first few months, Tashi Dunzhu squatted in the barley field every day, following the villagers to cultivate the land, sow seeds, harvest, and build a water mill. In the hard work, he experienced the hardships of his father's entrepreneurship and gradually fell in love with the land under his feet.

Tashi Dunzhu, who has lived in a big city for many years and received higher education, has different visions and courage: the rice processing plant can no longer follow the old road of grinding barley into rice dumplings, and must work deep processing. To this end, he founded Tibet Heyuan Food Development Co., Ltd., and cooperated with the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Tibet Autonomous Region to jointly develop barley biscuits, barley cakes, barley nutrition powder and other products. He also founded Tibet Kangsang Forestry Development Co., Ltd., cultivated and planted and sold various seedlings, and conducted highland planting experiments with kiwifruit and cherries.

Sweat for harvest. At present, the three companies operated by Tashi Dunzhu have an annual turnover of nearly 60 million yuan and an annual acquisition of more than 6,000 tons of barley.

In the development of the company, Tashi Dunzhu has his own opinions, but in the industrialized business model, he still follows his father's concept of "company + cooperative + farmer", in order to lead more villagers to increase their income and become rich. The reporter understands that there are 87 local people in the company to achieve stable employment, the average monthly income remains above 5500 yuan.

"My father's entrepreneurship summed up two tips, one is to 'talk about quality', good character, no shortage of friends; good goods, no shortage of sales." The second is 'not forgetting the original heart, cherishing the hometown', the barley business is inseparable from the farmers here, helping the farmers is to help themselves; the good policies of the party and the state have spawned good development opportunities, and personal development should be rewarded. His company has been insisting on buying barley from farmers at a price of 0.3 yuan per catty above the market price, and in 2018 alone, it gave 3.6 million yuan to the peasant masses. At the same time, he also actively donated funds to fund education, road construction, and care for orphans and disabled people, with a total donation of more than 1 million yuan.

On the banks of the Nianchu River, the flowing water happily swayed with 104 stone mills. The grainy barley, which is full of grains, has become a fragrant rice flour here, which has entered thousands of households; after entering the deep processing link, it has enriched the diversity of products and increased the added value of barley.
