Artist Profile

Female Metal Installation Artist - George Seck (1)

George Seck is an Australian sculpture and installation artist whose work explores our individual and collective perceptions of the polarity of existence and how these observations affect our reality. We learned about this female artist who created perfection out of metal in several installments.

"We are born out of the chaos in the darkness and then into the light — my process is roughly the same: I start with a thousand pieces scattered on the ground, and then work like a puzzle, I pick them up one by one, so that each part of them organically unites and gives birth to new life." ---

Meticulously handcrafted by George Seccull, the hard heavy steel transcends the fluid expression of life force, and each piece explores subtle aspects of the natural world through the paradoxes of thematic and material use.

In artist Secker's imaginary world, steel blades cut through the air that once had feathers. Recycled wood, animal bones and spoons form the bones of mechanical insects. She explores her own mythology by creating and dismantling external elements.

"From recycled material, I sculpted a highly evolved hybrid community. Each creature contains the paradox of the man-made world and the natural world. My work addresses our individual and collective perceptions of existence and how these observations inform our reality.
