Artistic Dialogue | A contemporary art path in parallel with the academic and the market

At the beginning of the gathering, Ms. Kerry led a tour of her studio. The studio is adjacent to the East Lake and offers panoramic views of the East Lake, and the interior is warm and romantic and artistic. Ms. Carey shared her recent paintings and relived her visit to Italy in 2016 with Liu Yiyuan and the heads of other Chinese academies of fine arts at the invitation of the Italian Ministry of Culture to hold the exhibition "The Intersection of Chinese Art" and attended the grand dinner hosted by the director of the Italian Art Museum for the exhibition. Then, Teacher Liu Yiyuan asked Mr. Peng Wenbin what he thought of the academic and market of art works. In this regard, Mr. Peng Wenbin replied incisively: "Only doing academics does not engage in the market and cannot move, and only engaging in the market and not doing academics is not far away." Mr. Peng Wenbin divides the market positioning of contemporary art into three categories: one is a palace-level work that is mainly academic; the other is an academic and market-oriented work; and the third is a work that caters to the aesthetics of the market but has artistry. He also divided the collecting crowd into four categories: the first was professional art collectors, who were characterized by only entering and leaving. The second category is art investors, who are characterized by long-term investments. The third category is art speculators, who are characterized by short-term investments. The fourth category is the mass enthusiast, who is characterized by a casual start.

According to years of experience, Mr. Peng Wenbin concluded: Art works only consider academics, they are bound to be high and low, and their market space is extremely limited, but they are too market-oriented, and their artistic life cannot be improved. Artists should accurately position their corresponding groups in the market according to their own artistic routes, and build a clear and unambiguous creation system and price system.

Mr. Peng Wenbin is very optimistic about the market prospects of Teacher Liu Yiyuan. He believes that Liu Yiyuan's ink art exploration has shifted from tradition to modernity step by step, the creative context is clear, a complete academic system has been constructed, and very high achievements have been made, which has a strong representation, leadership and breakthrough among the artists in the transformation of ink painting, which is very worthy of study.

Mr. Peng Wenbin suggested that Professor Liu Yiyuan position the market as a "hall-level work based on academia", constantly construct his own high-value academic system, and achieve the ultimate in scholarship; it is recommended that the collection crowd be positioned in the two groups of high-end professional collectors and professional calligraphy and painting investors, because the works of large artists are often concentrated in the hands of a small number of large collectors.

Mr. Peng Wenbin believes that with The current state of Mr. Liu, as he continues to advance academically, the market value of his works will continue to grow, which is a matter of course. For Mr. Peng Wenbin's penetrating analysis, Professor Liu Yiyuan expressed great recognition and appreciation, he believes that artists should put academic research in the first place, adhere to their own academic views, and take their own path, so as to achieve certain achievements in art.

Then, Mr. Li Jinggang, chairman and collector of Wuhan Honghegang Technology Co., Ltd., shared his experience and experience with everyone on the art market and collection. Mr. Li Jinggang believes that the current art market in Hubei is not mature enough to cause the sluggish art market, in fact, There is no shortage of professional collectors in Hubei, and there is no shortage of excellent artists, but only when the ecological environment and maturity of the art market reach a certain level, artists and collectors can form a good interaction and form an organic and benign development of the art economic industry chain. He also pointed out according to his many years of collecting experience: the collection of real collectors is oriented, forward-looking, only hidden and not sold; capital can create myths, but expensive is not necessarily good, good works of art can stand the test of time.

Mr. Lu Feng, President of Hubei Antiques and Art Chamber of Commerce, raised his doubts to Mr. Peng Wenbin on how to promote the development of the Art Market in Wuhan. In this regard, Mr. Peng Wenbin talked about the soil affecting the benign development of the art market, the degree of economic development, the government policy support and other factors based on his experience of doing the Guangzhou Art Fair for more than ten years, analyzed the possibility of the benign development of the Wuhan art market, and looked forward to the future development of the Wuhan art market.

Finally, Ms. Carey prepared a sumptuous art dinner for everyone, and everyone continued to share their experiences of life and art in the enjoyment of food and wine.
