30 years of technology research and development of the factory
Founded in 1983, Sonus Faber has always been an important representative brand of Italian loudspeakers, sonus Faber uses wood and leather, as well as traditional violin craftsmanship to create loudspeakers full of Italian aesthetic elements, creating many classic products. Many critics agree that Sonus Faber has gone beyond electro-acoustic equipment to be a work of art that can make a sound. For example, in 1993, the Guarneri Homage xiaomeiqin bookshelf box named after the violin-making family was launched, creating the first speaker designed with the Lute Rut box, which has been the soul of the design that has dominated the design ideas of the later powerhouses, including the now popular Olympica Nova Opera House Rising Star series.
The Olympica Nova V is the largest floor-to-ceiling speaker in the series, with a three-way, five-unit design, and its solid production makes this medium-sized floor-to-ceiling box weigh 44kg/piece, and the excellent manufacturing texture is amazing. The box of the Olympica Nova V is designed with the curved surface of the Lute Rut, and there are no symmetrical planes inside and outside the box, thus avoiding the resonance of the cabinet and bringing pure sound quality playback. Sonus Faber calls this design concept the organic cabinet structure of the Organic Cabinet Structure, and because the shape of the cabinet itself is asymmetrical left and right, the placement of a pair of speakers has a left and right distinction, but which speaker is on the left and which speaker is on the right? Sonus Faber's advice is that players depend on the listening environment and preferences, and there is no fixed and consistent answer.
Independent research and development of high-performance speaker units
The Olympica Nova V uses the patented Damped™ Apex Dome™ tweeter (model H28 XTR3). A metal arch is designed in front of the filamentous soft dome diaphragm of the tweeter, in which the tip cone in the middle is topped by a special Apex damper on the top of the treble diaphragm, thereby improving the overall vibration state of the soft dome diaphragm, reducing nonlinear distortion, enhancing the sound wave diffusion angle and the density of sound.
The 150mm caliber midrange (model M15 XTR2-04) mounted on a separate cast aluminium panel with the tweeter has a finishing touch with the delicate Sonus Faber logo on the phase shield. The diaphragm is made from a blend of pulp pulp cellulose pulp, Kapok kapok, Kenaf red hemp and other natural fibers, produced in a naturally air-dried, pressure-free manner that creates a natural roughness on the surface that reduces resonance, combined with a eddy-free voice coil wound with CCAW copper-clad aluminum wire and a powerful magnetic circuit system to reproduce a natural, transparent, and detailed sound.
The three 180mm diameter woofers (model W18XTR2-12) use proprietary sandwich diaphragm technology, including two layers of cellulose pulp and a layer of Syntactic foam high-tech synthetic foam sandwiched in the middle, with light weight, high sturdiness and proper damping characteristics, providing fast, powerful, low-distortion sound replay performance, perfectly blended with the mid-treble.
Patented crossover technology
The splitter uses Sonus Faber's patented "Paracross Topology™" technology designed in-house to minimize the sensitivity of the splitter to RF RF interference, improve transient response and reduce noise floor. This amplifier filter circuit uses a new, exclusive, purpose-built condenser, custom-made for Sonus Faber.
The box of the Olympica Nova V is made of three materials, including Wood wood, Aluminum aluminium and Leather natural leather, and the midrange and tweeter are first mounted on aluminum cast panels and then locked on the cabinet, plus natural leather wrapped panels cut by hand from Italian craftsmen. The front panel and the upper panel are made of natural solid wood and mounted on die-cast aluminum plates, while the box body is made of a total of 8 layers of wood with specific curves, and the solid cabinet interior is more structured with a Structural ribs structural frame to avoid the influence of resonance and sound dyeing. Finally, up to 7 layers of lacquer and sanding are applied to the outer layers of the box, and each detail reflects Sonus Faber's Italian aesthetic tradition.
The Olympica Nova V features a thick and sturdy all-aluminium base and stainless steel adjustable angle cone, and the speaker's bass inverted phase hole is specially designed, using a long strip of molded aluminum that presents a blade fan shape placed on the long slit inverted phase hole on the back of the speaker to form an ultra-low turbulence porting system that minimizes low-frequency distortion, a patented Sonus Faber technology called "Stealth." The Ultraflex™" system, first used in the Sonus Faber Homage Tradition series, was well received.
