The new North Vancouver Museum (MONOVA) opens on December 4, 2021 with limited pre-visits. The $7.6 million museum was funded by a total investment of $6.1 million from the Governments of North Vancouver, British Columbia and Canada, as well as donations of more than $1.5 million.

Museum of the Future, Dubai, UAE
Despite some delays, the Futuristic Dubai Museum of the Future is expected to open in 2022.
The museum building features a stainless steel structure topped by a huge ring. Director Lath Carlson spoke about the technical themes in the museum:
"When people hear 'Museum of the Future,' a lot of people are imagining robots, flying cars, and shiny gadgets. But that's not what we really want. We need something very creative and innovative, like addressing major challenges like climate change.
"In fact, it's the art of storytelling, and we focus on how to effectively use technology to serve storytelling." Technology can't always be the greatest and newest, but if you focus on potential storytelling, it's timeless.

Ilorin, Nigeria, African School of Contemporary Art and Film
The African Institute of Contemporary Art and Film (ICAAF) Museum is Nigeria's first visual art museum. It is expected to open in the spring of 2022.
Located in Ilorin, the museum will be home to post-production studios, film screening rooms, lecture halls and co-working spaces. In addition to the exhibitions, guests can also enjoy a café, a sculpture garden and a bookstore.
ICAAF was founded under the direction of Dolly Kola-Balogun, Creative Director of Retro Africa at Abuja Art Gallery.
"ICAAF will position Ilorin as the cultural capital of northern Nigeria and strengthen the links between north and south through cultural diffusion," Kola-Balogun said.
"By consolidating Ilorin's position as a creative hub, ICAAF will attract more tourism and investment opportunities. With stronger funding, Ilorin has the potential to nurture the industry in the same way that Lagos did for the southern film industry. Meanwhile, the Governments of Germany, Nigeria and the United Kingdom are setting up a Museum Centre (EMOWAA) to display returned Benin bronzes.

Giza, Egypt, Great Egyptian Museum
As one of the long-awaited new museum projects in recent years, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will finally open in 2022. As of January 2022, the project has completed 99% of the construction work.
With a collection of more than 100,000 artifacts covering 3,000 years of ancient Egyptian history, GEM will be the world's largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. Within the 500,000 square metres of space, there will be a three-storey complex with conference facilities, educational spaces, a 250-seat 3D cinema and a children's museum, as well as shops and restaurants.

One of the highlights of the museum is the Tutankhamun collection. There will be a dedicated exhibition space displaying all 5,600 objects taken from the tomb of the pharaoh.
GEM will replace the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Waled Abdel Fattah, senior vice president and GEM project manager at Hill International, said in an interview with blooloop:
"One of the differences with the Old Egyptian Museum is that GEM has a storyline that runs through the entire building. It immerses you in every stage of Egyptian civilization. Many high-end technologies, including virtual reality from suppliers and designers from all over Europe, will enrich the visitor experience.

MIT Museum, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Museum, which this year will move to a new venue in Kendall Place, Cambridge, Massachusetts, spans more than 58,000 feet and includes galleries, classrooms and performance spaces.

Museum of Robotic Science, Seoul, South Korea
The South Korean capital is one of the highest-tech cities in the world, so it's no surprise that it will be home to the first Robotics Science Museum, which is expected to open this year.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is calling for the design of the world's first pioneering Robotics Science Museum (RSM) in the center of the "Changbai New Economic Center" in the renovation area to support public education on robots and increase public understanding and interest in robots. The spherical structure of the entire museum is expected to extend over 2500 square meters.
The museum itself will be its own opening exhibition, as robots are already involved in all phases of the project, from design to manufacture and construction, as explained by architect Melike Altınışık:
"The new Robotics Science Museum (RSM), which plays a catalytic role in advancing and promoting science, technology and innovation throughout society, will not only exhibit robots, but actually robots from design and fabrication to construction and service will be responsible." In other words, RSM will start its 'first exhibition' on site with the robot's 'self-built'. RSM becomes the basis for the dissemination of scientific culture by providing the opportunity to experience the latest robotics technologies.
The designer is Melike Altınısık Architects from Istanbul, whose head and founder Melike Altınısık will use technology and innovation to change the way it builds its projects. The museum will be built using robots and drones, as well as the futuristic 369-meter-high Çamlıca TV and Radio Tower, which uses a unique façade design and novel construction methods.
After the new museum opens in early 2022, guests will be able to learn more about the latest innovations in AI, AR and VR, hologram technology and robotics. It also plans to hold training courses.

Broadway Museum, New York, USA
The Broadway Museum, the first permanent museum to celebrate Broadway's rich and unique history, will open in Times Square this summer. The museum was founded by entrepreneur and producer Julie Boardman and Rubik Marketing founder Diane Nicoletti.
It will showcase the history of New York theater, exploring key moments and iconic plays and musicals.
Guests will be able to find out more about the subject through immersive installations, while video projections will look at New York's theaters of all eras. There will also be an exhibit that guides visitors through the production process for a Broadway show. "It's a hybrid of experiential museums, very interactive, colorful and fun," Nicoletti previously told The New York Times. "And by including costumes, artifacts and historical elements, we ensure that we have a truly complete understanding of Broadway history."

Museum of Modern Art, Sydney, Sydney, Australia
The ART Gallery of New South Wales will complete its $344 million modern art gallery in Sydney by the end of 2022, coinciding with the museum's 150th anniversary.

The project will transform the Art Gallery of New South Wales into a two-building art museum, nearly doubling the existing space and creating a new free-standing building as well as a public art garden. The current building is also being updated and a new large front yard is being added.
Together, the two buildings will create an expanded campus that connects the museum with other major attractions in Sydney Harbour, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Sydney Opera House and the National Library.
The Museum of Modern Art Sydney will be home to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture. Australian art and technology from the Asia-Pacific region connect visitors with artists and their stories.

Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong Palace Museum
When the Palace Museum in Hong Kong opens in mid-2022, the new museum, along with M+, which recently opened in the West Kowloon Cultural District, will house about 800 artifacts from the Palace Museum in Beijing, including 160 "national treasures."
The HK$3.5 billion attraction will feature nine galleries showcasing the Palace Museum's art collection, as well as objects from Hong Kong and elsewhere, some of which have never been on display before. It will also include a 400-seat auditorium, learning and innovation center, and catering.
While the Palace Museum in Hong Kong will exhibit objects from the Palace Museum in Beijing, it should not be considered an offshoot of the original museum, director Louis Ng said in an interview with The Art Newspaper:
"We are not going to establish a branch library, but to use Hong Kong as a platform to make a new interpretation of the palace museum's collection."
He added: "We don't just display objects, we don't copy the Palace Museum. We wanted to create a new, modern interpretation of Chinese culture.

Bob Dylan Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
The Bob Dylan Center will open in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 10, 2022. A museum dedicated to the works of musicians, designed by Olson Kundig, will feature more than 100,000 exclusive objects from the Bob Dylan Archive.
Visitors will be able to discover original manuscripts, unpublished recordings, unannounced performances, photographs, and more. The museum will showcase its collection using cutting-edge immersive techniques, and the exhibits will be designed to appeal to longtime fans and those who have not been exposed to the artist's work before.
The Bob Dylan Center will also include an authentic studio environment, as well as an immersive film experience directed by renowned Dylan chronicler Jennifer Lebeau, as well as screening rooms for documentaries and concerts. In addition, there will be a multimedia timeline, written by historian Sean Wilentz.
The museum, near the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, will face Guthrie Green, and the façade will display a rare 1965 image of Dylan donated by Jerry Schatzberg.

International African American Museum, Charleston, South Carolina, USA
Located at Charleston's Gadsden Pier, the new museum is scheduled to open in 2022. The International African American Museum (IAAM) was designed by New York-based architecture firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.
The museum includes African Roots and Routes, the Carolina Gold and South Carolina Connections, and a Tour of the United States. It will also be home to the IAAM Family History Center, a family genealogy center, as well as the African Ancestors Memorial Garden, which will be freely open to the public.
At the height of the international slave trade, The Gardson Pier was estimated to be the first destination for 100,000 African slaves. CEO Dr. Tonya Matthews believes that

National Museum, Oslo, Norway
On 11 June 2022, the largest art museum in the Nordic country will open in Oslo. It was a collaboration between the Norwegian Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Gallery and Kunstindustrimuseet, designed by German architects Kleihues + Schuwerk.
The design includes the stunning 2,400m2 Light Hall, which will serve as an exhibition venue. The building is made of durable materials such as oak, bronze and marble, and the façade is covered with Norwegian slate. It aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50 percent.
It will have about 400,000 objects, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, textiles, furniture and architectural models. The 54,000-square-meter venue includes 13,000 square meters of exhibition space, as well as a rooftop terrace, shops, cafes, and the largest art library in the area.
The new museum will be a place for new ideas, inspiration and fascinating cultural experiences. The museum will be dedicated to making art accessible to everyone and reflecting the societies and times in which we live. In the new collection exhibition, traditional and modern art, architecture, design and craftsmanship, and contemporary art will be exhibited in a new environment. With the new large exhibition area, the Rijksmuseum can display more collections than ever before and host a wealth of temporary exhibitions with Norwegian and international artists.

Museum of Modern Electronic Music, Frankfurt, Germany
The new Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM) will open on April 6, 2022. Founded by Alexander Azary and Talla 2XLC, MOMEM will be a space to explore the history of electronic music and its evolution of multiple genres and sub-genres, a museum about the past and future of electronic music. The city of Frankfurt is a fitting place as it is one of the birthplaces of electronic music in Europe.
It will feature high-tech interactive experiences and immersive storytelling. It will be fine
Heart curated iconic moments of electronic music featuring exhibitions of artists, flyers, logos and artworks. There will be a series of original works as well as installations, photographs and pictures by visual artists, complemented by temporary exhibitions of selected themes, genres, clubs or labels.
In seven sections, MOMEM will discuss the various influences of electronic music on art, fashion, and technology, as well as its many genres and sub-genres – environmental, electronic, experimental, househouse, technology, drums, and bass.
In addition to immersive installations and temporary exhibitions, MOMEM plans to host movie nights, concerts and club nights, as well as lectures and workshops with guest DJs, producers and artists. The opening exhibition was created by German DJ Sven Väth and German sculptor Tobias Rehberger and titled "Sven Väth – It's Easy to Say What Saved Us from Hell".

The Women's Museum of the East London District has been operating as a temporary museum since 2015, eventually acquiring a permanent premises in a building in Barking and hoping to open in 2022. It was originally a reaction to the opening of the Jack the Ripper Museum in London and is currently the only museum in the country dedicated to women.

Basselton, Australia, Centre for Underwater Ocean Discovery
The new Australian Underwater Discovery Centre is located at Busselton Wharf in Western Australia, an artificial reef home to more than 300 different marine species, including tropical and subtropical corals.
The Australian Underwater Exploration Centre is partly underwater, two kilometres offshore. When it opens at the end of 2022, it will be the world's largest marine observatory.
Visitors will learn more about the unique marine environment as they explore the viewpoint's galleries and elevation exhibition areas before descending to the undersea platform.
The building's design was designed by Baca Architects and chosen by the local community, and its appearance symbolizes the whale's head breaking through the water. In addition to introducing visitors to marine life and the impact of climate change on the ocean, it will also be home to an extensive research facility.

National Museum of Korean Americans, Los Angeles, California, USA
The National Museum of Korean Americans (KANM) was founded in 1991 and opened in 1995 at a temporary location in Koreatown, Los Angeles. It hosts numerous exhibitions exploring Korean and Korean-American history and culture, as well as lectures, readings, seminars, and film screenings.
In 2012, the museum was granted a permanent lease of a site in Koreatown to build its first permanent site. In 2019, architecture firm Morphosis designed a sculptural plant-covered museum building. Morphosis founder Thom Mayne led the project alongside Korean-American architect Eui-Sung Yi.
The mission of the National Museum of Korean Americans is to preserve and interpret the history, experiences, culture, and achievements of Korean Americans.
In fulfilling its mission, the museum strives to be a hub for cultural exchange and education, a catalyst for sharing ideas and resources, and a center for promoting and celebrating the cultural diversity of this country.
For the museum's mission, it is important to help other communities come to lively understand the Korean-American experience and encourage these groups to learn more about Korean-Americans in Los Angeles and elsewhere.
As a result, there are many exciting new museums to look forward to in 2022. Moreover, there are several that are being reopened or expanded. In the UK, for example, visitors will be able to discover the reimagined Burrell Collection in Glasgow.
