On February 14, the Public Security Bureau organized the Chengguan Street Office, the Environmental Protection Bureau, the Chengguan Law Enforcement Bureau, the Market Supervision Bureau, the Housing and Construction Bureau, the Education Bureau, the Rong Media Center and the main responsible comrades of 15 communities (administrative villages) in the urban area to hold a mobilization and deployment meeting for the lantern festival fireworks and firecrackers ban work. The meeting clarified the responsibilities of each member unit for the work of banning combustion, and made detailed arrangements for the centralized inspection activities on the day of the Lantern Festival. On the day of the Lantern Festival, the Public Security Bureau Public Security Brigade took the lead in organizing patrol special police, Jinshui police station, Kowloon police station, environmental protection bureau, urban management bureau, and municipal supervision bureau to form a patrol team of a total of 150 people, go deep into the area where fireworks and firecrackers are prohibited in advance to conduct a thorough investigation, combined with the dense areas where fireworks and firecrackers were found and summarized in the early stage, rationally plan the layout of police forces, ensure full coverage of patrol personnel in key streets and key laneways, and once the illegal fireworks and firecrackers are found, they can rush to the scene to fix the evidence and quickly investigate and deal with them. In their work, inspectors have focused on going deep into residential quarters, urban villages, and other places where people live in a combination of vehicle patrols and infantry patrols, carry out all-round inspection and publicity work throughout the region, educate and guide the broad masses to consciously abide by the regulations and requirements of the ban on combustion, enthusiastically report illegal fireworks, and deal with all illegal fireworks discovered and severely punish them severely.
During the operation, a total of 30 patrol vehicles were dispatched, 130 police forces were deployed, more than 500 social forces were mobilized, 2,000 notices were issued and posted, 62 illegal fireworks and firecrackers were stopped on the spot, 46 illegal fireworks and firecrackers were investigated and punished, 96 people were criticized and educated, and 8 people were punished. It has played a good deterrent effect and created a safe and harmonious festival environment.
