The Silence of the Lambs, the prototype of Hannibal, the ghoul Jeffrey Lionel Damor

author:The little king next door

There is a famous movie in the United States, "The Silence of the Lambs", in which the protagonist is named Hannibal, Hannibal is handsome, but he likes to eat human flesh. And Hannibal's archetype is the character we're going to talk about today, Jeffrey Lionel Damo, who has the "Milwaukee Ghoul." He was as horrified as Hannibal, and truly ate many corpses.

【Early Life】

  • Damor was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
  • At a young age, Damo was an introverted and good-looking boy, so he received extra love from his parents.
  • At the age of 4, he underwent hernia surgery, which made him feel "scared and uncomfortable" for quite some time;
  • As a child, Damo was repeatedly sexually harassed by the boy next door.

The above reasons caused him to develop a rebellious psychology towards sex from an early age, or a sexual disorder psychology.

Young Jeffrey Lionel Damor

  • At the age of 8, his family moved to bath, Ohio.
  • At the age of 10, he liked to "experiment" with small animals: he divided their corpses and treated the bones with a liquid sulfuric acid.
  • When it was time to go to school, because of his eccentric personality and strange way of speaking, almost all the children were far away from him.
  • Soon after, Damo found that it was easier to accept if he could drink with others. The more strange the way he behaves, the more he can be noticed.
  • During his time in school, Damo's grades were not bad, and they were a bit off-subject.
  • He graduated from high school in 1978.

He was a racist who once said that one day he would kill all the black people in the world. This has always puzzled researchers, and although many people in his family have this tendency, he is particularly strong. Among those he later killed, there were never whites, and there were no women or children. Most of the victims were Black Africans and Latinos.

【Criminal History】

  • On June 18, 1978, Damo carried Steve Hicks. Damor asked him if he could sit at his house for a while, because there was no one in his house and everyone else was visiting relatives. Unguarded, Steve readily agreed. They sat in his house for a while, drank some wine, and listened to music. Later, when he heard that Steve was going to leave, Damor tapped Steve on the head with a dumbbell and strangled him to death on the floor. He then dismembered the body into small pieces, packed them in a large plastic bag, and placed them in a groove under the house. After a few days, the body began to decompose, emitting a disgusting smell. Damo feared that his family would find him when he returned, so he buried the body in the woods behind his home. After a few days, he found that some children often played there and might find corpses, so he dug up the bodies again. By this time the body was only bone, and he smashed the bone with a sledgehammer and sprinkled it in the woods. Later, Damo confessed that he would only kill those who tried to leave him. He thought that only if he did it himself, these people would not abandon him.
  • Damo's parents often quarreled, so this family discord led to their eventual divorce, and the divorce of his parents made Damo more and more withdrawn.
  • Damo then entered the Columbus campus of Ohio State University.
  • In December 1978, Damo was forced to serve in the military because he did not enter the university after graduating from high school.
  • In March 1981, he was expelled from the army for being an alcoholic and overly depressed.
  • In 1982, he moved to West Ellis, Wisconsin, where he lived with his grandparents. He was later detained for a period of time for exposing his genitals in the market.
  • In 1985, he got a job at a chocolate company in Milwaukee.
  • In 1986, he was detained here for urinating in public. After that, he began to frequent gay bars.
  • In September 1987, Steve Tommy went to Milwaukee to have fun. He and Damor passed by and talked for a couple of words, and then they went to a car hotel and drank a lot of wine. When Damo woke up, he found Steve dead, with blood in his mouth. He then packed the body into a suitcase and brought it back to Damo's grandmother's house. There, Damo makes love to the corpse, masturbates in front of the corpse, and then dismembers him with a butcher knife.
  • In January 1988, Damo carried another 14-year-old boy. He still took the boy to his own home and killed him in the basement. Later, the boy's body was almost unrecognizable because his body was so badly decomposed. It was not until damaud's arrest that he was revealed.
  • In March 1988, just two months later, Damo killed Richard Guerrero again. Richard was getting ready to go to a friend's house. Damo met him on the way, then took him back home and killed him.
  • During this time, Damo's grandmother began to hate him. Because his behavior was so strange, she asked him to move out. She later told police that he often spent a lot of time in the basement and that there was always a disgusting smell there. She always heard Damo knocking on something there all night. So she told Damo that she couldn't be his babysitter anymore.
  • In 1988, he moved to his Oxford apartment on 25th Street in the North End. Soon after, he was detained for molesting a boy.
  • In March 1989, Damor met Anthony Hills at a gay bar. Damo told Anthony that they could go to his house to play, drink, take pictures, and have sex. Anthony readily agreed. They went back to Damo's grandmother's house, and after making love, Damo put some homemade sleeping pills in a glass, and when he was asleep, Damo chopped him open. He boiled Anthony's head in water, pulled his skin off, and after air drying, he painted it gray and took it home as a souvenir.
  • In May 1989, Damo was sentenced to three years in prison for second-degree sexual harassment and for seducing boys for immoral purposes, later commuted to one year as a volunteer, and the court banned him from having contact with children under the age of 18.
  • In 1990, Damo returned to his old ways. He then killed about 12 men.

The 17 victims were all male, ethnic minorities, the oldest being 32 years old and the youngest 14 years old

  • On May 27, 1991, Damo tricked Knerac, a 14-year-old Lao-American boy, into his apartment, charmed him, and went outside to buy beer. As a result, Knelak woke up and escaped. He ran out of the apartment, bare-buttocked, with blood in his anus, staggered due to the effects of sleeping pills, and escaped entirely on his own instincts. Two girls passed by and then called the police. When Damo found out, he ran over and tried to drag Kneirak back, but was unable to do so because the police arrived. Damo then told the police that they were gay and that Knerac was 19 years old. So the two policemen did not take care of the two girls, but went into Damor's apartment to continue the questioning, and they found that although the smell was bad, it was very neatly packed. In the ensuing conversation, Damo behaved mildly and cooperatively. Unwilling to intervene in the dispute between the homosexuals, the two policemen left, leaving Knellak at Damo's house. Since Knelak passed out, the police did not question him or conduct further investigations. They couldn't imagine what terrible things such a gentleman-like blond man could do. When they reported to the above, they laughed because of Knelak's injuries and drunkenness. Little did they know, however, that it was in Dameau's bed that he had just dismembered Anthony Hughes three days earlier, and that the rest of the body was in the refrigerator. Of course, Damo then strangled Knelak, had sexual intercourse with his body, and then dismembered Knelak and cleaned his head as a souvenir.

【Arrest and execution】

On July 22, 1991, Dameau met Tracy Edwards, a young black man, and decided to go to his apartment for a drink. Damo clearly liked Tracy and decided to let him live longer. At this time, "The Exorcist" was playing on the TV, which was Damo's favorite movie, so they arrived at Momo's bedroom to watch TV. At this time, Tracy suddenly realized that the smell was not right, because inside a plastic bucket contained some remnants of the victim's corpse, and he also saw some pictures of the victim hanging on the wall. At this time, Damor took out a pair of handcuffs and tried to handcuff Tracy. Tracy struggled desperately and didn't let both hands be handcuffed. Damo took out a butcher knife and stabbed Tracy in the chest, almost piercing his heart. Tracy kept begging Damo, trying to calm him down. He kept hiding in the house, trying to escape from the apartment. Later, Damo threw him on the floor and told him he was going to dig out his heart and cook it. Damo wanted to take a few more nude photos of Tracy and turned his head to look for the camera. At this time, Tracy slammed her head hard into his face. Damo fell, and Tracy got up and made up a few feet. Then he climbed to the door, struggled to open it and escaped. He spotted a police car parked on the side of the road and ran over to tell the police. Two detectives then arrive at Dame's apartment and ask him to take out the key to the handcuffs. Damo appeared very cooperative and handed over the keys.

Later, a police officer went into the bedroom to search for the murder weapon that Damo had just used, but he was almost stunned by the sight in front of him. On the walls of Damau, photographs of fragments of corpses are hung. He immediately asked another police officer to arrest Damo. But Damo resisted frantically, and eventually the police subdued him and handcuffed him.

The policeman continued the search, he opened the refrigerator door, suddenly found a human head staring directly at him, he closed the door and screamed: there is a human head here! They then found more remaining bodies in Damo's bedroom, three more heads in the refrigerator, all in plastic bags; several pairs of rotting hands in an iron pot behind the closet; two heads on the partition; and fragments of corpses soaked in some other bottles. Some of the photographs found showed the deceased's posture at different times of death, one showing a flesh-and-blood human head in a pool, another showing a human body being pulled apart from the throat to the groin and clearly visible in the pelvis; others showing the victim being tied up and posing in various poses before dying.

Damo then confessed to all the crimes and confessed to the location where the other bodies were buried. He was prosecuted for 16 homicides. There were actually 17 cases of homicide, but no prosecution was filed because Steve Tommy's body was missing.

After Damo's serial killings were exposed, a massive popular uprising in Milwaukee aimed at protesting the U.S. government's conniving racial policies took place. Perhaps partly under pressure from public opinion, Damo was eventually sentenced to fifteen life sentences (combined with 957 years in prison), and he was placed in a separate cell for a long time.

【Death】

On November 28, 1994, Damo was killed by a 25-year-old inmate, Christopher Skavo, in a Colombian prison. The killer was a black man, and before that, he had killed a racist. The cause was that the two of them and another criminal were cleaning the room, and Damor and the black man quarreled with each other. Finally, the black man grabbed Damo's head and slammed it against the wall, and Damo died on the spot.

One of the recurring motivations in Dameau's own statement is his attempt to prevent others from leaving, to avoid abandonment. Damor also pointed out that he wanted to kill people as early as the age of 14 and then make love to their corpses. It seems that Damo had a fascination with corpses, and as he himself put it, he liked the color of the internal organs cut out and the heat emitted by the freshly killed corpses, which made him extremely hyperactive. At the same time, he would cut off the flesh of the victim's body and eat it, so that the victim could be reborn in him. He tried many condiments and made the meat of the corpse with other meats to make them taste better. Similarly, Damo gained a great deal of excitement from this. He also tried sucking blood, but he didn't think it tasted good. Damo always came up with ways to torture the victims to satisfy his own desires. For example, he would knock a hole in the victim's forehead and put some hydrochloric acid in it, sometimes the victim would have to live a day or two before he would actually die. However, this is still difficult to explain how he generated his motives for killing. One possible reason is that Damo seeks a sense of control to escape feelings of loneliness and abandonment. He hoped that the victim would somehow be able to stay with him. However, this is still difficult to explain how he generated his motives for killing. Damo seemed to believe in the devil, saying, "I don't know if there's a God, if there's a devil." But I feel like they're all influencing me. An important reason why he collected souvenirs seemed to be to gather various forces to help himself become stronger.

Damo's extremely cruel atrocities also reflected a drawback in American society at that time, that is, the general neglect and even discrimination of vulnerable groups (especially people of color) in American society. Milwaukee is an industrial city with a large amount of cheap labor in the city, mainly immigrants from developing countries. Damo lived in immigrant areas, and most of his victims were immigrants of African, Asian and Hispanic origins. In the process of investigating the case, "a caucasian male in his mid-thirties must be a law-abiding citizen" is almost a mindset for the police, so Damo has never been in the police's suspicious range at all.

Looking at this case, it is not difficult to find that on the one hand, the police in immigrant gathering areas mostly discriminate against people of color, and the rights and interests of people of color are even less protected (relative to white people); on the other hand, the police are not good for immigration management, and they are neglectful of a large number of immigrants who enter illegally, and they are even more indifferent to their lives and deaths. Whether Damo himself is a racist is not easy to judge, but the area where he was caught for more than a decade of evil and the target he chose to attack is inseparable, and it can be said that it is the racialism that runs rampant in the immigrant area that protects this demon.
