Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu, who were born in Changchun, Jilin Province, began to partner in 2005, specializing in ice dance, and began to participate in national competitions four years later. At first, they missed out on gold medals several times, the best one was to win the silver medal at the 2012 National Championships, but they were not discouraged, eager to surpass, and worked together to win the national championship.
Finally they did it! In 2014, the two won their first national championship at the National Figure Skating Grand Prix, won the National Championships in the same year, and won the Domestic Winter Games in 2016.
Many national champions have joined the body, and the two are eager to go further and represent China in international competitions. Because ice dance has never been China's dominant project, the two strive to bring a breakthrough to Chinese ice dance. The two ranked 22nd in the short dance in Pyeongchang in 2018 and failed to qualify for the free dance; in the just-concluded ice dance competition, they surpassed again and squeezed into the final round, ranking 12th, refreshing the best result of Chinese ice dance!
