Chulalongkorn University, the oldest university in Thailand, is revered as "the most prestigious university in the country", a member of the Pacific Rim University Alliance and the Academic Alliance for the 21st Century, with 19 faculties, 2 postgraduate schools, 1 branch school, 11 research institutes, 2 educational centers and 3 affiliated schools. The school takes its name from King Rama V of Chulalongkorn and was founded by King H.M Vajiravudh Rama VI.
Rama VI developed the school into a state-owned administrative college and added many courses such as agriculture, commerce, education, engineering, water administration, law, medicine, and public administration. In 1917, this administrative college had the size of a comprehensive university, costing a total of 950,982.39 baht to build the university. This is why the crown of the fifth king is the ancient school emblem of the school, and the color of the school flag is set to pink (it is said that it is the color represented on Tuesday, the day of the birth of the fifth king). Between 1973 and 1977 Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn was a student of this university, and the first member of the Thai royal family graduated from a commensurate Thai university.
