Recently, "Landscape Architecture" magazine announced the list of winners of the 2021 LA Landscape Architecture Award, and the team cooperation project between the Architectural Design Institute of our city and Associate Professor Zhou Zhengxu of the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, Gaodang Buyi Mountain Village Protection Update, stood out in 53 declared projects in the same category across the country after 3 rounds of review, and finally won the Excellence in Humanistic Care Award.

Gaodang Village is located in Anshun Town, Ningbuyi and Miao Autonomous County, located in the plateau karst landform area, a few years ago the village faced ecological environment degradation, low quality of residential buildings, new housing construction disorder, cultural characteristics diluted, village cohesion weakened and other problems. In response to the problems and challenges, the Municipal Architectural Design Institute and associate professor Zhou Zhengxu's team have continued to carry out investigation and research, launch community, design communication and step-by-step implementation series of work since 2015. From the design point of view, we should focus on handling the three pairs of relationships in the village: First, artificial and natural. Respect the traditional ecological wisdom, adjust and maintain the balance of the overall pattern of "mountain-water-forest-field-village" in Buyi Mountain Village; the second is the place and spirit. Reshape the spatial heritage of village places to condense the spirit of the village and stimulate cultural self-confidence; the third is tradition and the future. Use appropriate technology to renovate and renovate existing dwellings.
The Landscape Architecture Award jury commented on the Gaodang Village Conservation renewal project as follows: "From the perspective of cultural anthropology, the project goes beyond the humanistic significance of general landscape projects, thereby extending and preserving this unique cultural heritage." The remote Guizhou mountain village has a restrained design, conveying true humanistic care through a rustic temperament."
