Zhou Hongxing, born on February 18, 1936 in Da'an City, Jilin Province, after completing primary and secondary school in Shenyang from 1949 to 1956, was admitted to the department of Chinese of Peking University with excellent results in the three northeastern provinces, and after graduating in the autumn of 1961, he taught chinese language and literature at Renmin University. He is currently a professor at the College of Literature of Renmin University, the founding president of Beijing University of Humanities, the dean of the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, and the dean of the Institute of Stone Appreciation Culture. He is a famous educator, poetry critic, connoisseur of stone appreciation art collection and calligraphy art at home and abroad.
Professor Zhou has been associated with calligraphy for more than 70 years, and his calligraphy is elegant and thick, magnificent, and has carved stones in more than 20 provinces, cities and regions, and his Laozi "Tao Te Ching" (more than 5,000 words) and "Three Character Classic" (more than 1,200 words) are written by him, and the full text of his calligraphy works is engraved on the 5,000-year-old wenbo garden stone in Anqing City, Anhui Province. It can be said that it is one of the calligraphers with the most carved stone characters in the past. His works are cherished by dozens of party and state leaders on the mainland and many foreign heads of state. From 2016 to 2020, the State Postal Department printed and issued its calligraphy for five consecutive years, and issued the "Zhou Hongxing Special Stamp of China's Famous Masterpieces".
In recent years, After painstaking study, Professor Zhou has created a new book style of "Lishu Zhishu". Nearly 100 experts and scholars praised him as "the first person in China to refer to the book, creating a new world of calligraphy aesthetics", "a dazzling page in the history of Chinese calligraphy", "a treasure in the book industry in mainland China today", "the pioneering achievement in the art of calligraphy, and is recognized by the world as a generation of masters of the finger book". After more than ten severe winters and heat, he has completed the manuscript of the "Zhou Hongxing Liti Zhishu Classics 100-Volume Series of Books", which will be a protracted project in the history of mainland culture and publishing.
Professor Zhou Hongxing has now created eight art museums in Anhui, Jilin, Shanxi and other places, including "Zhou Hongxing Calligraphy Art Collection" and "Zhou Hongxing Natural Marble Painting Treasure Museum", to show the elegance and magic of his calligraphy and natural stone painting art to audiences at home and abroad.
Professor Zhou has transformed the Chinese sinology cultural classics he has created and accumulated for most of his life into spiritual and material wealth shared by the whole nation.
At the beginning of January 2022, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China issued a "Professional Title Certificate" to him, confirming and registering Professor Zhou Hongxing as a "Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills".
