Recently, the project department of the bearing production base (Waigang) of Shanghai Jiyou Machinery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric, was inaugurated, and the project plans to invest 960 million yuan to build a bearing R&D and manufacturing base and business headquarters in Waigang. After the project reaches production, it is expected to produce 40 million sets of high-precision bearings per year and create 1,000 new jobs.

According to reports, the first phase of the Waigang Bearing Production Base plans to build three single-storey main plants, a multi-storey R&D comprehensive office building and other related supporting facilities, and plans to build a total construction area of 38,717.3 square meters, mainly with rail transit bearings, new energy vehicle hub motor bearings and robot bearings as the three major categories of products for future manufacturing. At the same time, the project investor, Shanghai United Rolling Bearing Co., Ltd., will lay out relevant functions in the Waigang bearing production base and build a sales operation center, a research and development center, a procurement center, and a high-end manufacturing center.
