According to the Associated Press reported on the evening of February 11, US officials revealed the news that the US State Department will announce the withdrawal of the US Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine on the morning of the 12th local time, and all US staff in the embassy must leave Ukraine. But the U.S. State Department has yet to respond.

The official also revealed that a small percentage of U.S. diplomats could be moved to Ukraine's western region, which borders Poland, to preserve U.S. diplomatic presence in the Ukraine region. Previously, the United States had ordered relatives of embassy personnel in Kiev to evacuate Ukraine, but whether to leave or not was at its discretion. Due to the escalation of tensions in eastern Ukraine, US Secretary of State Blinken encouraged US citizens in Ukraine to leave the country on the 11th.

The situation in Ukraine has deteriorated in recent weeks, with the United States and the European Union expressing concern about Russia's military buildup on the Ukrainian border, NATO urging greater military support for Kiev, and the United States repeatedly playing up the rhetoric of "Russian invasion." Russia has repeatedly denied allegations of "invading" Ukraine, noting that NATO's military activities on Russia's borders threaten Russia's national security. The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that western claims about "Russian invasion" and helping Ukraine defend itself are both ridiculous and dangerous, and that Russia can mobilize troops within its own borders on its own, which neither threatens anyone nor should it be worrying.
