German Film Awards announced 4 hours of black and white film won the award

Berlin, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The 64th German Film Awards held an award ceremony on the 9th, and the black-and-white film "Another Hometown" won the Golden Lola Award for Best Film.

Directed by 81-year-old German director Edgar Reitz, "Another Homeland" lasts nearly four hours and tells the story of a young German farmer in the 1840s who hopes to emigrate to Brazil and start a new life. The film won both Best Director and Best Screenplay awards.

The Silver Lola Award for Best Picture was the Alpine Western Dark Valley. Directed by Andreas Prohaska, the film is the big winner of this year's German Film Awards, winning eight awards, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Costume, Best Set, and Best Sound.

The winner of the Bronze Lola Award for Best Picture was the German-Norwegian co-production of "Double Life".

German actress Joldis Tribell won the Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film "The West", while the Best Actor Award was won by Dieter Hallefelden, 78, who played a marathon runner in "The Last Race".

Helmut Dieter, a 69-year-old German director who directed the film "Counterfeits," won the Golden Rolla Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Founded in 1951, the German Film Awards are the highest honors in the German film industry. The film awards, which total about 3 million euros (about 26 million yuan), are now awarded by the German Film Academy.
