The Russian Olympic Committee team won the gold medal with a time of 53 minutes and 41 seconds, and Germany and Sweden won the silver and bronze medals respectively. The Chinese team ranked 10th, creating the best result in the history of the project.

The women's 4×5 km relay each team sent four athletes to compete. According to the rules, the first two athletes must use traditional techniques to skate, and the last two must use free techniques. The race is a group start, with the first team of the fourth team to cross the finish line winning.

From the very beginning, the match became a contest between Germany and the Russian Olympic Committee, with the two teams alternately rising in the rankings and always occupying the top two positions.
