Cash-strapped developer China Evergrande Group plans to fully resume construction and sales activities and avoid relying on underselling assets to pay off debts. Chairman Xu Jiayin told employees at an internal meeting on Sunday that China Evergrande plans to fully resume construction work across China this month, with a goal of handing over 600,000 units by the end of this year. At present, China Evergrande has a pre-sale supervision fund of about RMB50 billion, and another RMB170 billion in sales proceeds and other saleable value to maintain the continuity of construction. Xu Jiayin also said he opposed relying on selling assets at a low price to pay off debts.

According to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Xia Haijun, vice chairman and president of China Evergrande Group, sold $128 million worth of bonds before the company fell into a debt crisis last year. Xia Haijun sold three tranches of Evergrande bonds in batches between July and August last year, namely US$28 million of 8.75% senior notes due 2025, US$50 million of 11.5% senior notes due 2023 and US$50 million of 11.5% senior notes due 2022. The average price of the above-mentioned bonds sold is about 35.9-52.4% of the par value. During the same period, Xia Haijun also reduced his shareholding in Evergrande Group.

AMD Corporation announced that it has received all necessary approvals for the acquisition of Xilinx, which it expects to complete around Monday, February 14, 2022. On October 27, 2020, AMD announced the acquisition of Xilinx in an all-stock transaction valued at $35 billion.

Microsoft executives promised that their new gaming app store would operate on a set of open market principles as part of an effort to lobby regulators around the world to approve its acquisition of gaming giant Activision Blizzard. The principles echo concerns raised by app developers and lawmakers who say app stores run by Apple and other companies unfairly extract large commissions from digital revenue and stifle competition. Microsoft says one of its measures is that it won't require developers to use proprietary payment systems.

Geely Automobile announced that the total sales volume in January 2022 was 146,380 units, a decrease of about 6% over the same period last year, mainly due to the early Spring Festival holiday and the sporadic epidemic situation in various places.

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xiaopeng Motors said it would work with local partners Emil Frey Nederland and Bilia respectively to start selling Chinese-made cars in the Netherlands and Sweden. The so-called agency retail model will allow Xiaopeng to maintain pricing and quality control, while using the services and distribution networks of its partners. Xiaopeng Motors will also open a customer experience storefront in Stockholm and plans to open a similar showroom near The Hague, the Netherlands, in March. In addition to selling through local partners, the company will also open a number of directly operated stores.

Daniela Cavallo, chairman of Germany's Volkswagen Works Committee, said the automaker must do more to understand the Chinese market in order to gain a larger market share. The company's target for electric vehicle sales in China did not materialize last year. Auto insurers are rapidly raising premiums in an attempt to catch up with inflation, which has pushed up prices for car repairs, replacements and rentals. The businesses and teams covered in the agreement are spread across around 15 countries, with nearly 70% of the workforce located in France. GE will retain its services-focused steam-powered business, including nuclear services in the Americas, as well as nuclear power plant technology and service provider GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy.

Uk competition regulators identified Amazon as a fresh food retailer and placed it under new rules designed to regulate how supermarkets treat suppliers. The move is the latest attack by regulators on the tech giant's dominance. Britain's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said on Wednesday it would add Amazon to a list of food supermarkets, bringing it to the ranks of supermarkets such as Tesco and Waitrose, which have been adhering to codes of conduct designed to prevent large fresh food retailers from squeezing their suppliers since 2009.

SMIC released results, the company's consolidated operating income in the fourth quarter of 2021 was 10.26 billion yuan, an increase of 53.8% over the same period of the previous year, a record high. Operating profit in the fourth quarter was RMB4.092 billion, an increase of 248.9% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was RMB3.414 billion, an increase of 172.7% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies, net of non-recurring gains and losses, was RMB1.479 billion, an increase of 3553.6% year-on-year. Preliminary statistics show that the company's total revenue for the whole year last year was 35.63 billion yuan, an increase of 29% year-on-year, and net profit was 10.73 billion yuan, an increase of 147.7% year-on-year.

Renesas Electronics, a Japanese semiconductor company, announced its 2021 financial results. The full-year operating income was 994.418 billion yen, an increase of 38.9% year-on-year, and the operating profit was 183.601 billion yen, an increase of 181.8% year-on-year. Net income was JPY 127,261 million, up 178.9% year-on-year. Revenue from the automotive business was JPY 462.3 billion, up 35.6% year-on-year.

Credit Suisse Group reported results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2021 with net revenue of CHF 4,582 million, down 12% year-on-year, and net loss widening to CHF 2,007 million year-on-year. Net loss of CHF 1.57 billion for 2021 was attributable to a provision for litigation of CHF 1.1 billion, resulting in a net profit of CHF 2.669 billion for the same period last year. Net revenue for the full year was CHF 22,696 million, up 1% year-on-year.

Unilever announces financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2021. Fourth-quarter revenue was EUR 13.1 billion, up 8.4% year-on-year. Revenue in the Beauty & Personal Care business was EUR 5.8 billion, home care was EUR 2.7 billion and Food & Refreshments was EUR 4.6 billion, by business segment. Revenue for the full year 2021 was EUR 52.4 billion, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year, and net profit attributable to shareholders was EUR 6.05 billion, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year. Operating profit increased by 4.8 percent year-on-year to EUR 8.7 billion.

L'Oreal 2021 results. Full-year sales amounted to EUR 32.28 billion, an increase of 16.1% over the previous year, and operating profit amounted to EUR 6.16 billion, an increase of 18.3% over the previous year. E-commerce channel sales increased by 25.7%, accounting for 28.9% of the Group's total sales. By segment, high-end cosmetics achieved sales revenue of 12.34 billion euros, mass cosmetics achieved sales revenue of 12.23 billion euros, active health cosmetics achieved sales revenue of 3.924 billion euros, and professional hair products achieved sales revenue of 3.783 billion euros.

Firmenich, a privately held company in flavors and fragrances, announced its semi-annual results for the year ended December 31, 2021. Revenue amounted to CHF 2,241 million, based on the financial data on the books for the reporting period, which increased by 12.2% year-on-year. The adjusted EBITDA reached CHF 460 million, an increase of 25.3% year-on-year.

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, said its adjusted earnings in 2021 hit a 13-year high, thanks to a historic rise in steel prices last year. The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of $19.4 billion in 2021 hit a new high since 2008. The EBITDA for the fourth quarter of last year was $5.05 billion.

French oil and gas giant Total Energies announces fourth-quarter 2021 results. Benefiting from strong oil and gas prices, quarterly profit increased significantly, with adjusted net income of $6.83 billion; sales rose to $60.35 billion from $37.94 billion in the year-ago quarter.

Siemens announces results for the first quarter of fiscal 2022 (ending December 31, 2021). Excluding the impact of portfolio and currency movements, first-quarter revenue increased by 9 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 16.5 billion. Profit from the physical business increased by 12% to EUR 2.5 billion. Net income increased by 20% to EUR 1.8 billion. Revenues across the digital industries group's entire business and region increased by 11 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 4.3 billion. Energy Infrastructure Group revenue increased by 6 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 3.8 billion. Siemens Mobility revenue increased by 7 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 2.4 billion.

Wurth Group released its 2021 financial report. Sales increased by 18.5 percent to EUR 17.1 billion. Operating results increased to EUR 1.2 billion. The share of e-commerce rose to around 20%.

EATON announces fourth-quarter and full-year 2021 earnings. Fourth-quarter sales were $4.8 billion, up 2% year-over-year. Full-year 2021 sales of $19.6 billion, up 10% year-over-year.

PepsiCo Inc. announces financial results for the fourth quarter ended December 25, 2021. Quarterly net revenue was $25,248 million, compared to $22,455 million in the year-ago quarter, an increase of 12.4% year-over-year, and net income was $1,341 million, compared to $1,859 million for the year-ago quarter. The company's full-year 2021 revenue was $79,474 million, compared to $70,372 million in 2020, an increase of 12.9% year-over-year; full-year net profit was $7,679 million, compared to $7,175 million in the previous year.

Coca-Cola Announces Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2021 Financial Results. Net revenue for the fourth quarter was $9,464 million, compared to $8,611 million in the year-ago quarter, an increase of 10% year-over-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders was $2,414 million, compared to $1,456 million for the year-ago quarter, an increase of 66% year-over-year. The company's full-year 2021 net revenue was $38,655 million, an increase of 17% year-over-year, and net profit attributable to Coca-Cola shareholders for the full year was $9,771 million, up 26% year-over-year.

Twitter announces fourth quarter and full year 2021 results. Total revenue, including data licensing revenue, increased 22 percent to $1.57 billion in the fourth quarter. Net profit was $182 million, down 18% year-over-year. Revenue for 2021 was $5.08 billion, up 37% year-over-year, and net loss narrowed to $220 million year-over-year.

Canada Goose announces third-quarter fiscal 2022 results. Quarterly revenue increased 23.6% to C$586 million and net income increased 42% to C$152 million.
