In August 2021, the Ministry of Education issued the Opinions on the Establishment of Colleges and Universities during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, proposing to gradually clean up and standardize existing off-site campuses of colleges and universities. After the policy was issued, Hebei, Jilin, Shandong, Guangdong and other places have successively issued documents clearly stating that they will strictly control the operation of schools in different places, and the newly declared schools must not exist in cross-provincial off-site campuses, and the existing off-site campuses of existing colleges and universities should be gradually cleaned up and standardized in the principle of stability and order.
It is reported that at present, the plans of many colleges and universities to run schools in different places have been shelved.
