In order to solve this mystery, a research institute selected babies of different genders who were 8 months old, 15 months, 24 months, and 30 months old for data analysis.
The bailey infant and young child development scale (BSID-CR), the most commonly used study, had two main evaluation parts:
1. Intelligent development index (MDI), which mainly evaluates the development of early cognition and language.
2. Psychomotor Development Index (PDI) evaluates fine and coarse motor development.
There are differences in different months of age
1. At the age of 8-15 months, there is not much difference between male and female babies in terms of intelligence, sports, and aspects; but in terms of communication and understanding of word counts, the score of female babies is significantly higher than that of male babies.
2. At 24-30 months of age, there is no significant difference between male and female babies in terms of intelligence, language communication, and vocabulary comprehension; in terms of motor development index, male babies may be higher than female babies.
What's the difference?
1. Cognitive and intellectual development
The cognitive and intellectual development of male and female babies is not significantly different at each age after birth, and the same results will be obtained even if other professional testing tools are used.
2. Motor development
The motor development of male babies was significantly higher than that of female babies at 24 months of age, but there were no significant differences in 8 months, 15 months and 30 months of age. Male babies develop earlier in gross motor development.
3, communication can say the number of words
From 8 months to 15 months, the vocabulary that female dolls can speak is significantly higher than that of male babies, but at the age of 30 months, the two tend to be balanced, and there is no obvious difference. But not all infants and young children follow this pattern, sometimes men score high, sometimes women score high. This is related to the screening of samples, the use of assessment tools, and the assessment of the age node.
4. Understand the number of words
The language comprehension ability of female babies is significantly higher than that of male babies at the age of 8 months and 15 months. But the gap between the two is not too large, after 15 months of age, sometimes the female baby will perform better than the male baby in understanding the number of words, but overall, the difference between the male and female in the number of words is the same.
Many times, the speed of motor development may temporarily inhibit the development of language. The speed and process of motor development in men and women are different, so the impact on language is also different. But no matter how tested, after 30 months of age, male and female babies will enter the peak period of vocabulary development. Vocabulary and expression skills have skyrocketed.
The incidence of language delay, who is high and who is low?
Yes, studies have shown that the ratio of language development delay in early childhood is 2.45:1, that is, at a certain age, the proportion of abnormal language development in male babies of the same age is much higher than that of female babies.
Because female babies are better than male babies in early language development, male babies are more likely to have language development problems in contrast. In particular, during the period of 8 to 24 months, the male baby's understanding and expression of language are worse than that of female babies of the same age, parents should pay attention to it, teach language communication skills, create language conditions and situations, and encourage the baby to talk more and express more.
The difference between men and women in language development is obvious, so parents should pay attention to the judgment of the baby's language development, not only rely on the understanding and expression of language and vocabulary, but also consider the difference in age and gender. Sometimes professional advice is required. In this way, the accuracy of the assessment can be improved and the basis for prevention and intervention can be provided.
