December 25 of the annual solar calendar is a traditional Western holiday that originated in Christianity and is the day when Christians commemorate the birth of Jesus, commonly known as "Christmas". Western countries tend to celebrate on holidays, similar to the Chinese New Year.
Christmas, as the name suggests, is the birthday of a saint. The three major religions of the world all have their own Christmas anniversaries. In Buddhism, there are Christmas anniversaries of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and on these important and special days, Buddha disciples often remember the merits of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, learn the compassion and wisdom of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, practice all good deeds, and live a meaningful Buddhist Christmas.
The rich and extensive Buddhist culture can provide us with a variety of festive forms, such as:
1. Make offerings to the Three Jewels, giving alms to sentient beings, comforting and caring for the poor, the disabled, the old and the sick, and sending them light and blessings.
2. Release and care for life. Release and cultivate compassion; rescue injured stray animals, adopt stray animals that are left unattended.
3. Vegetarian fasting, away from slaughter and bloodshed, keep the eight-level fast, and keep your body and mind pure.
4. Pray to the Buddha, chant the Buddha, pray for parents and relatives to increase wisdom and longevity, and pray that the deceased relatives will be born in a pure land and enjoy happiness forever.
5. Go to the monastery or in your own home to worship the Buddha, chant the sutras, meditate, meditate, copy the sutras, offer lamps, etc., get close to the Three Jewels, and practice intensively.
Although the specific date of the Buddha's birthday is clearly recorded in the "Buddha's Biography" transmitted from the south and north of India, there are different theories. Throughout China's history, Chinese Buddhism mostly takes the eighth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar as the Buddha's birthday.
Southern and Tibetan Buddhism, on the other hand, has always taken the full moon day of may in the Gregorian calendar (equivalent to the fifteenth day of the lunar month in China) as the Buddha's birthday, and in 1954, at the third congress of the "World Buddhist Association" held in Yangon, Myanmar, this day was designated as "World Buddha Day". Therefore, in order to respect the historical traditions of our country and reflect the solemnity and consistency of Buddhism, in addition to the eighth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar as the Buddha's birthday, the major monasteries in Our country have added the full moon day of the fifth month of the Gregorian calendar as the auspicious day of the Buddha since 1990.
2021 is coming, there are 34 important Buddhist festivals in this year, the Christmas anniversaries of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are sorted out as follows, and the disciples of the Buddhas remember to collect oh!
