The manga of "Strange Beasts and Magic Capital" was originally titled "ドロヘドロ", which literally translates to "swamp and chaos", just like the style of this work.
The decadent city of quagmire and the chaotic mix of subcultural symbols together form a black humor drama full of violence, bloodshed and fantasy.
To my surprise, such a cult manga was actually written by a high-achieving student at Tokyo University of the Arts, and the author, Hayashi Tanabe, specializes in oil painting at the school.
And this "Strange Beast Demon Capital" is also her first serial comic.
One of her doodles intrigued the editor of the elementary school who had submitted the manuscript, so she asked Hayashi to launch a serial of "Strange Beasts and Magic Capitals" in the monthly magazine IKKI.
This is a ghost comic full of strong personal style, and In the manga, Lin Tian Qiu not only shows the worldview mixed with many subcultural symbols, but also the colorful graffiti style.
Luckily, the company responsible for adapting the anime is MAPPA, a production company that has done two ghost animations, "Saga Idol is Legend" and "Satsumi", which is very good at this.
Lin Tianqiu's strong personal style is basically inherited by the animation.
