Chen Tonglong, a native of Xinxian County, Shandong Province, graduated from Shandong University. The twenty-four solar terms are specific festivals in the calendar that indicate natural rhythm changes and establish the "December building". At the age of one year, three months of spring, summer, autumn and winter, two solar terms per month, each with its own unique meaning. The twenty-four solar terms accurately reflect the natural rhythm changes and play an extremely important role in people's daily lives. It is not only a seasonal system that guides agricultural production, but also a folk system with rich folklore. The 24 solar terms contain a long cultural connotation and historical accumulation, and are an important part of the long history and culture of the Chinese nation.
The "twenty-four solar terms" is the product of the ancient agricultural civilization, which is the knowledge system formed by the ancient ancestors who conformed to the agricultural time, observed the movement of celestial bodies, and recognized the changing laws of the season, climate, and phenology in the first year. The twenty-four solar terms were originally formulated according to the shift of the stars of the Bucket, the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper rotated in a cycle, and the handle of the Bucket rotated clockwise in a circle for a cycle, which is called one "year" (regential). The current "twenty-four solar terms" are formulated according to the position of the sun on the returning ecliptic, that is, the annual trajectory of the sun is divided into 24 equal parts, every 15 ° is 1 equal part, and every 1 equal part is a solar term, starting from the spring and ending with the cold.
After historical development, the lunar calendar absorbed the solar terms component of the dry branch calendar as a supplement to the calendar, and adjusted it to conform to the return year through the "leap method" to form a luni-yang calendar, and the "twenty-four solar terms" became an important part of the lunar calendar. In the international meteorological community, the twenty-four solar terms are hailed as "China's fifth major invention". On 30 November 2016, the 24 solar terms were officially inscribed on the Representative List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
