Original Su Xianli Courtyard 30
Although I know that I will not know what year and month I will be able to return, nor do I know how many difficulties and twists and turns I will face in the future, it is much better for me to earn a salary there than to stay at home and eat idle meals.

Sign up for the military reclamation: I understand that I can't continue to mix in the city like this, and I began to seriously consider my way out.
In the spring of 1968, when China was in the midst of internal and external troubles, the Cultural Revolution movement in the interior was in its third year, and the armed struggle was in constant turmoil; and the clouds of war hung over the border between China and the former Soviet Union. At that time, the relations between the two countries were very tense, and the former Soviet Union had a million soldiers on the border, and repeatedly created bloodshed on the border, which already made people smell a strong smell of gunpowder.
That year, I was a junior high school graduate of Harbin No. 18 Middle School in 1967, and our school was a key middle school in Harbin before the Cultural Revolution, and most of the students had the good wish of studying hard and being admitted to university in the future. However, from the Cultural Revolution movement that began in 1966, the school developed from a revolution in school suspension to a bloody struggle between student organizations, and it has not been possible to resume classes, and the society is full of blood and madness, and we waste our studies and waste our lives in the turmoil. I entered school in 1964 and was supposed to graduate in July 1967, but by 1968 we were still doing nothing in school. Schools do not recruit students, enterprises do not recruit workers, we can neither continue to study nor find employment, and the ideal of entering the university that we once dreamed of was shattered in the cold wind and snow of the Cultural Revolution movement.
In this early spring of March 1968, which was full of confusion and troubles, the Red Guard fanaticism with youthful restlessness and rebellious mentality at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution had gradually subsided, and our hearts were tired of the so-called revolutionary rebellion. I understood that I couldn't continue to mix in the city like this, and I began to seriously consider my way out.
At the end of March, the school finally came down with the high school enrollment document, but the document stipulates that the number of high school enrollment is very small, and there are only seven places for forty-nine students in our class, not only to be recommended by the masses but also to be called "red five children" with good births.
Although I was so eager to continue my studies, because my parents were fought during the Cultural Revolution, we became politically discriminated against so-called "educated children." I knew that I was not politically qualified in the first place, and the door to continuing to learn was closed. At that time, a large number of young students were deprived of the right to continue their studies because of various so-called political problems such as family origin, and there was no hope of finding a job in the city.
In December 1967, the news came that the Red Guards of Beijing Middle School had rushed to the Beidahuang Farm to participate in revolutionary exercises, and at that time it was as if we saw a glimmer of light in the dark night, and in the confusion and confusion, we seemed to see hope, taking the revolutionary road of combining with workers, peasants, and soldiers, and perhaps this was the only way out for us at that time.
In March, a provincial conference of activists studying Chairman Mao's writings was held, and the school organized us to listen to lectures and reports. On that day, we listened to representatives of the People's Liberation Army and militia from the border line of Zhenbao Island at the Drama Theatre and theater about their heroic struggle against the Soviet revisionists and the defense of the motherland's frontiers. The venue was full of students from various schools, even the aisles and the podium. Everyone's blood boiled as they listened, and a burst of slogans shook the earth. After they finished speaking, everyone rushed to the rostrum, scrambled to shake hands with the representative of the People's Liberation Army who had made a meritorious battle, and presented him with a portrait of Chairman Mao and hung it on his chest and hat. This also made my blood boil, and I wanted to go to the frontier and defend the motherland with my own blood.
One day in early April, my classmate Wu Yuanchao came to me and said that the Xinhua Regiment of the Frontier Military Reclamation Farm had come to Kazakhstan to recruit workers, and asked me if I wanted to go, and of course I was very happy. We immediately went to inquire about the situation. According to the comrades who listened to the recruiting workers, the Xinhua Regiment was formed in March 1966 by the officers and men of a regiment of the Thirty-eighth Army of the People's Liberation Army who were collectively transferred to the Heihe border area, and was subordinate to the Heihe Agricultural Construction Division of the Shenyang Military Region of the People's Liberation Army. The XinhuaTuan is located on the border of the Heihe River and is the first line of defending the motherland, and they hope that young people with lofty ideals will go there to participate in the defense and construction of the frontier, which makes me feel excited.
Wu Yuanchao and I found a map to carefully examine, the Xinhua Regiment is located in the southern foothills of the Xiaoxing'anling Mountains, the mountains are close to the water and close to the Heilongjiang-China-Soviet border, it is really good to participate in the battle to defend the motherland's frontier, this is the ideal place we want to go to. At that time, it was still in the form of voluntary registration, and there was no large number of mobilized students to go to the frontier, so Wu Yuanchao and I were enthusiastic and did not hesitate to voluntarily sign up to go to the military reclamation farm.
At that time, my decision to go to the frontier was based on three considerations: First, although my father was criticized and examined by the rebels and had no hope for the future, I wanted to go to the frontier to see the world through the wind and rain, and I wanted to prove with practical actions that my heart was red, and I should still be a young man full of ideals and enthusiastic blood; second, the tense situation on the Sino-Soviet border made me feel that I should go to the frontier to defend the border like my fathers, and I felt that the farther I went, the better it was to rely on the border, and I was willing to contribute my youth and blood to the defense of the motherland in the frontier. Third, I want to support myself and can no longer rely on my parents to support me. There are five of us brothers and sisters, I am the eldest, the younger siblings are still young, there is an elderly grandmother in the family, I want to reduce the financial pressure for the family and share the burden on the shoulders of my parents.
Wu Yuanchao and I were middle school classmates in the same class, and he also carried the ideological baggage of the so-called bad birth, feeling that the future was hopeless, and we were members of the same Red Guard organization during the Cultural Revolution, and we had common ideas in the same situation.
In the days after the registration, we were burned by the passion of the revolution, and we waited excitedly for approval. The two of us often sat on the steps of the Songhua River, looking at the rushing water in the river, and had a heated discussion and longed for going to the frontier military reclamation farm to participate in the battle to defend the frontier of the motherland. In order to find that feeling, we also went to the cinema to see the film "Military Reclamation Battle Song" about the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and our hearts were full of pride and ambition and firm determination to go to the frontier.
On April 26, Wu Yuanchao received a notice of approval and would leave on May 7th, and he was very happy. Sure enough, I was not approved because my father was criticized for his political incompetence. It was like a basin of cold water pouring down my head, and it made my heart ache. I had a sleepless night, looking at the starry sky and sighing again and again: Don't I have the right to go to the frontier to serve the motherland? But I did not lose heart, and the desire to go to the frontier was stronger and firmer.
On May 1, "spring breeze and the south bank of the Green River". Several of our best classmates, Chen Mingming, Zhang Huili, Shan Chuang, Liu Tianshou, Wu Yuanchao, and Wang Jilin, came to the beautiful Songhua River to take photos of our friendship in middle school and for our upcoming separation.
On May 1, 1968, he and his classmates took a photo on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin. Take a souvenir before separation. I'm second from left in the back row, and Wu Yuanchao on the left.
The beautiful Songhua River - Harbin's Mother River, how many times have we come here in childhood and middle school to play in the water, fight the waves, discuss state affairs, and leave many beautiful memories of youth. Today we are once again on the banks of this beautiful river, looking at the majestic towers, the long bridge spanning, the great river going east, rolling back. Thinking that we are about to separate, about to bid farewell to our hometown and go to the frontier, The young style of the students is flourishing, and the past is thick. Touching the scene, how much pride and emotion surged into my heart.
We left a group photo by the river, wishing each other that no matter where we went to the ends of the earth, we would fight to defend Chairman Mao, and we would always remember our fighting friendship. On May 5th we officially took another photo at the photo studio, which was our last group photo at school.
On May 7th, we went to bid farewell to the first batch of Wu Yuanchao, who had more than 100 young intellectuals, and on that day the city organized a warm farewell of 100,000 people. Wu Yuanchao, wearing a large red flower on their chests, boarded the northbound train to the frontier amid cheers and loud slogans.
I was allowed to go to the frontier: I was seventeen years old, and for the first time I left my relatives independently to go to a distant frontier, and I never thought I would be able to come back.
Soon after, I received a letter from Wu Yuanchao, in which he introduced the situation there and hoped that I would go as soon as possible. So I wrote a letter of determination overnight insisting on going to the frontier military reclamation farm. Early the next morning, I found the leader who had come to recruit workers and handed me this passionate letter of determination, expressing my desire and determination to go to the frontier military reclamation farm and participate in the anti-repair and defense repairs to defend the frontier. I was really determined to go to the frontier military reclamation farm. My determination and dedication finally touched them, and a few days later I was approved to leave on May 26th, along with more than a dozen of my classmates from our school, including Wang Xiulan, a female classmate in our class.
But before I left, my left leg was injured, my knee was very painful and swollen, I couldn't walk, my mother took me to see the injury, and I had to go to the Chinese Medicine Hospital every day to change the medicine, and I couldn't leave on time. I was so anxious that I wouldn't let me go. So I went to the team leader to explain the situation. He said it doesn't matter, there will be a group of people who will go to Xinhuatuan on the 30th, and you can go with them. Great, so you can not delay.
The day of departure is approaching day by day, my mother and my grandmother in my seventies have prepared packs for me, although my mother does not want me to go, hoping that after my father implements the policy, I will go or go to a place closer to home, but I see that I have made up my mind and silently prepare for me before the trip. My mother led me to the garment shop to make a corduroy dress, took out the family's suitcase to fill me with clothes, and brought me a bed of American duck down mattresses that my father had seized during the war years. Grandma was reluctant to let me go and give me thousands of instructions, and also helped me pack my bags and unshuffle my cotton clothes and bedding. My father was very supportive of me going to the frontier, telling me about his experience of sneaking out of his house to join the Anti-Japanese Revolution of the Eighth Route Army in 1937 when he was sixteen years old, and encouraged me not to be afraid to withstand the test after I went to the frontier.
The District Intellectual Youth Office gave each of us a copy of Mao Zedong's Quotations, and we took a group photo of the whole class (unfortunately, the photo studio said that the photo was broken. Classmates Liu Qingsheng and Shan Chuang gave me a notebook, and the title page of the notebook was full of words of encouragement and friendship, and Shan Chuang also left a correspondence address.
That day I met Wen Kaijie, a female classmate in our class, on the road. Wen Kaijie said I was looking for you and gave you some daily necessities as a souvenir. She said that she gave me daily necessities such as washbasins and towels; I was very touched at the time. During the Cultural Revolution, we were members of a Red Guard organization, and we also went to Beijing together to experience the baptism of wind and rain, and we had a deep comrade-in-arms feeling. In addition, some classmates gave me various souvenirs, and the love of classmates made me unforgettable.
On the morning of May 26th, I checked in my luggage with the group that departed, just waiting for the departure on the 30th.
The day before I left, I went to the police station myself to move out of the hukou and food relations, which marked that I was no longer a person in the city of Harbin.
The day of departure has finally arrived. I insisted on not letting my parents and siblings and elderly grandmother go to the station to see me off, and I said goodbye to my family one by one. Before going out, I looked back at this familiar and warm house again with deep affection, and silently thought in my heart: Goodbye, the home that raised me to grow up.
I was seventeen years old, and for the first time I left my loved ones independently to go to a distant frontier, and I never thought I would be able to come back. At that moment, my heart gushed out the tragic and generous feeling of "the hero who went to the end of the world, never to return", and at the same time there was a faint sadness of saying goodbye to my relatives away from my hometown.
Say goodbye to your hometown. Me (Medium)
Farewell to Harbin: Some of them, despite their family's opposition, secretly signed up to move out of the police station without their relatives; some of them did not hesitate to break off relations with their families in order to go to the frontier, which was really both singing and crying and impulsive and childish.
On the morning of May 30, 1968, I went to the hospital for the last time to change the medicine, brought a few days of medicine, and then ate lunch at home in advance. At 12:30 noon, we gathered at the conference hall of the Revolutionary Committee of Xinyang Road District, Daoli District. I arrived on time, and the young people in the hall who were leaving were laughing and laughing. At two o'clock in the afternoon we gathered the whole group and walked to the train station. Along the way, we and the farewells continued for miles.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, we arrived at the Harbin Railway Station, only to see the red flag waving and the song on the station. The platform was crowded with people and crowded with farewells. Many parents and classmates rushed to send their children on a long trip. Our group of one hundred and thirty-two young students from various schools in Harbin City, wearing Chairman Mao's portrait badge on their chests and carrying their clothes, responded to the call of the motherland, and were full of pride, they were about to board the train going north and rush to the frontier military reclamation.
Among our group of young students who have been approved to go to the frontier for military reclamation, there are many enthusiastic young people who are full of lofty ideals of defending the frontier and building the frontier, and who are determined to go to the front line of border defense to reclaim the frontier. Some of them, despite their family's opposition, secretly signed up and secretly went to the police station to move out of the police station without their relatives; some of them did not hesitate to cut off relations with their families in order to go to the frontier.
But many of these young people were children of so-called bad families or whose parents were persecuted during the Cultural Revolution, and they were implicated and treated unjustly. They not only think of the frontier to prove their absolute sincerity to the party and the motherland with practical actions, but also more or less contain helplessness about fate. But their sincere aspirations and enthusiasm were frustrated by the reactionary theory of descent, and many of them were denied the right to go to the Frontier Corps, and many of them were approved by writing applications many times and even finally writing blood letters.
I don't let my parents send me before I go out, I want to make myself braver and stronger. But on this crowded train platform, I suddenly saw my mother squeezing through the crowd looking for me to call me, my mother still came with my sister to send me, I rushed over to say goodbye to my mother.
My mother took my hand and shed tears, and told me to pay attention to my body when I arrived at the farm, listen to the leader's words and work well, and write as soon as possible so as not to worry about the family. It was really the mother's worries that made me deeply feel the great love of my mother, and the scene of my mother's farewell to me has been remembered in front of my eyes for decades.
The bell rang and the tour leader urged us to get on the bus. I boarded the train, opened the window, squeezed into the window to say goodbye to my mother again, and I said, "Mom, don't worry, I will take care of myself on the frontier, I will do a good job."
Classmates Liu Tianshou, Zhang Huili, He Qinghua and many others also came to see me off, and they shook hands with me to say goodbye and gave me good wishes. Some students also took a lot of photos with their cameras, but unfortunately these photos can no longer be found.
The send-offs and the young people who are about to leave are cherishing this last moment before their separation, wishing each other well and cherishing each other. This carriage is full of intellectuals who are rushing to the frontier.
At the beginning, everyone still said that there was laughter, but some people were already pretending to be smiling, and for a while some people had red eyes, and finally some of them couldn't help but cry. Several female classmates around me were in tears, clutching the hands of their relatives and classmates who were sending off and refusing to spread out, whimpering and unable to speak, it was really "holding hands and looking at each other with tears, and they were speechless and choking."
The driving whistle sounded, the time to separate is coming, although this is not a life and death parting, but after all, everyone will be separated from each other from now on, no one knows what the fate will be in the future, and it is impossible to predict what twists and turns and bumps will be on the road of life, so it is inevitable that the heart will cling to it.
But since we have bravely chosen this path, we are determined to go on firmly. Although some people cried, it was nothing more than tears of farewell to relatives, and our young and childish faces were filled with bright smiles.
I really didn't cry at the time, I think that in this spring full of vitality, I am going to the frontier to join a new great battle. Today I am going to go to the front line of anti-revision and defend the frontier of building the motherland, what a glorious mission, and how can I say goodbye with tears. I was a little eager for this new battle to come. That's exactly what I thought, and many of the young people who went there in May were also filled with this revolutionary enthusiasm and passion.
"The fire flag waved and laughed, and the border pass Qingshan is my home"
"Uh-huh..." A whistle sounded, and at 3:50 p.m. the train started slowly. I leaned out of the car window and desperately waved goodbye to my mother and classmates.
Goodbye, Mom! Goodbye, hometown! Goodbye, students!
Wave your hand and go, the wind and rain will break through the world.
We embarked on a journey and opened a new page in the history of life.
Coming to junken: I suddenly realized that I had truly bid farewell to the noisy and endless urban life, and that I would live and fight in this remote and remote company.
After a night of train operation (during which we changed trains at Qiqihar Station at 12:00 midnight), at 5:00 a.m. on May 31, 1968, more than 130 of us arrived at the Nenjiang County Railway Station in Hashi Zhiqing, a frontier military reclamation farm.
After getting off the train station, in the early morning morning sunshine and mist, we lined up neatly to be received by the commander of the Zhou Division of the Heihe Agricultural Construction First Division. On behalf of the military reclamation leader, this burly old demobilized soldier came to the railway station to greet us, warmly welcomed us and encouraged us to take root on the frontier.
Subsequently, we went to Zhiqing of the Xinhua Regiment of the First Division of Heihe Agricultural Construction (later the First Division and the Second Regiment of the Corps) and the classmates who went to Haqing Farm (later renamed the Independent Battalion of the First Division of the Corps) to wave goodbye here and part ways. Among the zhiqing who went to Haqing Farm were my classmates Zheng Hong and Tang Muge, and we also said goodbye.
We got into a big truck, and three cars were filled with our intellectuals and carry-on luggage. Because the car was packed with luggage and people sitting, it seemed crowded, so I could only sit on my own luggage curled up on my legs. We start from Nenjiang County Railway Station and travel north along the Nenjiang(Jiang) Hei (River) Highway. The sky was clear and the temperature was right. The car crossed the mountains all the way.
Two hours later, we arrived at a border checkpoint called Sanzhan Station, where the armed military police who stood guard checked our border passes, verified our identities, and released us, which suddenly made people feel the tense atmosphere in the border area. After that, even if we enter the border area, we will have a border pass to enter and leave the border in the future.
The car continues on a mountain road surrounded by mountains, full of green mountains along the way. We climbed over mountains, turned around several times, and the trails were narrow and very thrilling. Sometimes we also pass dangerous passes, and the road is lined with steep cliffs, where there are still war-era bunkers. The first time I experienced this kind of mountain road, my heart was full of novelty and excitement. The car passed the second stop, Xigangzi, and the leader of the team told us that we would soon arrive at our destination.
At two o'clock in the afternoon, after six or seven hours of bumping in the car, we finally arrived at the Xinhua Tuantuan headquarters - the place name is Tuanshanzi.
Xinhuatuan is located in the southern foothills of the Xiaoxing'anling Mountains in the interlaced area of the hilly plains, and its strategic geographical location is very important because it guards the Xigangzi Pass of the Heiha Highway leading from the Heihe River to Harbin. In March 1966, a regiment of the 38th Army of the People's Liberation Army was collectively transferred to this place, and the Xinhua Regiment of the Heihe Agricultural Construction First Division was formed according to the army structure, and more than ten companies were built along the meandering Gongbiela River. Producing in peacetime and fighting wars in wartime, they bear the heavy responsibility of reclamation and reclamation.
Because I was crowded all the way to the car, my legs were numb when I got out of the car. At the regimental headquarters, we were warmly welcomed by the regiment leaders, demobilized officers and men, and the first to know the youth. The demobilized officers and men here came two years before us (hence our call them six-six. Three old warriors). In addition to the leaders at all levels, most of them are under the age of thirty, and they are still wearing yellow military uniforms and maintaining the style of the troops, which makes us feel very cordial. Colonel Lin, Political Commissar Wang, Chief of Staff Zhang, and Senior Director of the Political Department warmly shook hands with us, and Head Lin made a warm speech on behalf of the leaders of the Xinhua Regiment, introduced the situation, and warmly welcomed us. Then we were assigned to companies by school.
In the welcoming crowd, I saw Wu Yuanchao, an old classmate who arrived first on May 8. After nearly a month of separation, Wu Yuanchao was more energetic than when he was in school. He introduced me to Li Zhiren, who was standing next to me, who was originally from Ha Forty Middle School and is now the platoon leader of the Zhiqing Platoon of the Company. Li Zhiren was medium in stature, with a sincere smile on his round face, and warmly welcomed me. They came specially to pick me up from the company, and I greeted each other with a warm handshake, and we finally fought together on the frontier of the motherland.
Originally, I was assigned to the Twelfth Company with more than a dozen of my classmates in our school, but Wu Yuanchao and Li Zhiren asked me to go to the sixth company where they were, and said that they had already agreed with the regimental leaders, and I also hoped that Wu Yuanchao and Wu Yuanchao could be in the same company. So I came to the Sixth Company (later changed to fourteenth Company), and only I and Wu Yuanchao were from the same school in the company.
Wu Yuanchao and Li Zhiren told me that our company was still more than fifty miles away from the regimental headquarters, and it was the company furthest away from the regimental headquarters. So we got into the carriage that came from Lianli and set off.
Soon after leaving the regimental headquarters, we climbed a mountain, and on both sides of the mountain road were dense hazelnut forests, tulip trees, and birch trees. The trees are leafy, the spring wind blows, and the leaves make a rattling sound. The mountain flowers on the side of the road are in full bloom, colorful, and the scenery is pleasant. The car owner kept waving his whip, playing a loud whip whistle, and shouting at the horses. The horse staggered forward, and the hoof sounded, which was really a spring breeze and the horseshoe disease. While watching the scenery on the side of the road with great interest, I happily talked with Wu Yuanchao and Li Zhiren about their respective situations after separation.
After descending the mountain, we first waded along the bumpy sand and gravel road across the small river next to the Ninth Company, and then passed the Seventh Company; and then passed the small Xitun at the foot of the mountain in the shade of green trees (we even had a few old workers living here), and the chimneys of several houses were already full of cooking smoke.
At this time, a blood-red sunset was slowly sinking into the distant sky, and the brilliant sunset was gradually disappearing. In the twilight sky, the undulating mountains are like the distance extended by the black dragon, which is really a picture of "the mountains are like the sea, and the sun is like blood". Surrounded by the tranquility of the mountain village wilderness. I suddenly realized that I had truly bid farewell to the noisy urban life once and for all, and that I would live and fight in this remote and remote company.
We turned to a small river about ten meters wide, and the river was flowing quietly, this river was called Honghu Tuhe. Across the river, among the lush green grass and wheat seedlings, a road leads to a bungalow, which is neatly arranged and stands quietly in the last afterglow of the sunset. Aid Korea told me that the bungalow in front of me was our company.
The carriage waded over the small river, and we arrived at Lianli, and after more than three hours of bumps in the road, it was already six o'clock in the evening. Because there was no electricity, Lian Li was hazy and silent in the low-hanging twilight, and I was greeted only by the blinking stars and the dim and faint light from the dormitory window.
After entering the house, I greeted the zhiqing who arrived first, they were zhiqing who arrived on May 8th and May 26th, probably more than thirty. Then the three of us went to the cafeteria to eat. The cooker in the canteen warmly prepared a meal for us, and we had a hurried dinner under the dim oil lamp, and although the journey was tiring, we still felt that the food was fragrant.
Back in the dormitory, I washed my face and feet and lay on the bed, and since the luggage did not arrive, Wu Yuanchao and I shared a futon. Although all the way to the wind and dust, but the mood is excited tossing and turning, can not fall asleep, thinking of the parting with parents and classmates, thinking of the upcoming new life, it is really emotional, emotional. I rolled over and wrote my first diary under the oil lamp to the military farm.
Sunny, May 31, 1968
Goodbye, dear comrades-in-arms! Goodbye, Harbin!
With the sound of the majestic whistle, the wheels turned slowly, and the train carried one hundred and thirty-two of our new recruits from various schools to the frontier of the motherland and our new combat post, the Heihe Military Reclamation. How unstable our mood is at this moment! The smiling faces of comrades-in-arms and countless familiar houses were gradually thrown behind. Yesterday we fought to defend Chairman Mao; today the needs of the revolution have plunged us into the struggle of the three great revolutionary movements. Dear comrades-in-arms, let us continue to fight for the defense of Chairman Mao in different combat positions!
The train is taking us to a new battle, a new life. What awaits us ahead is an even more thrilling new battle. There will certainly be all kinds of difficulties and twists and turns on the road ahead, but with the support of Chairman Mao and his old man, and with the invincible Mao Zedong Thought leading the way, we will not be afraid of anything, and we will certainly be able to win victory! Dear Chairman Mao, we swear to your old man that we will certainly temper ourselves into strong soldiers in the frontiers of the motherland. We will always work with you in the wind and waves for a lifetime of revolution.
See the ten thousand mountains red all over the place, and the layers of forests are dyed
Our young soldiers of military reclamation hold high the blood-stained red flag in their hands, so that the motherland's rivers and mountains will always be bright red.
This is the oath of a new recruit in the military reclamation who was full of pride and ambition from the heart.
When I re-read this diary many years later, my heart was once again churning with excitement, as if I had returned to the unforgettable day of my first day in the corps company, and from that day on, my life began a new long journey.
Company Overview: With the arrival of a large number of Young Intellectuals and the flooding after 1969, our lives have become more and more difficult.
Our company is located on the banks of the beautiful Honghu Tuhe River, with more than thirty wooden houses, sitting in three rows facing north and south. The company headquarters is in the center of the company, surrounded by family quarters. Our Collective Dormitory is on the west side of the company, the left side of the dormitory is a small shop, the front house is the canteen, and then there is the carpentry room; the right side of the dormitory is the basketball court.
The company had more than five hundred dark and dull lands, flat and fertile, and since the frost-free period was only one hundred days, it mainly planted wheat and soybeans. The company was equipped with five tractors and a small car, three Soviet-made Combain combine harvesters, and many supporting agricultural machinery. The grain, vegetables and pork we eat are all supplied by Lianli. Lianli has a pig number and raises dozens of pigs; another horse number, raising more than a dozen horses, mainly pulling carts for transportation.
There are more than 100 people (including family members) in the company, mainly composed of three parts. First, in March 1966, more than a dozen soldiers of the Thirty-Eighth Army were collectively transferred to other occupations, most of whom served as cadres of companies, platoons, and squads, and had relatively high quality and good work style. They use the fine traditions and management methods of the army to educate and manage us, so that we can benefit a lot and lay a good foundation for our growth;
The second is more than 30 local old workers and their families, although they come from the north of The South China Sea, they are simple, kind and hospitable. There is an old worker in the company named Cui, who lacks a finger in his left hand, can play harmonica, and often covers his broken fingers with a handkerchief when blowing; there is also an old worker in the canteen Ning Fucai who is particularly enthusiastic about our young people, and every day he opens his eyes and runs forward and backward. Some old employees have rich production experience, like Deputy Company Commander He Quanfu, as well as Zhao Cai, Li Yunting, Li Yunfang, etc., they are very friendly and enthusiastic to Zhiqing;
The third was more than thirty Zhiqing from Harbin who came in May 1968, of which the first batch of Zhiqing who arrived on May 8 had a total of eighteen, twelve women, and six men, who called themselves eighteen warriors. They are not a school, like Li Zhiren, Ma Jiacheng, and Li Baofan of the Forty Middle School, Xu Zhizhong is forty-one, Feng Hongli is the Twenty-Eighth, Wu Yuanchao is the Eighteenth, Sun Zhaohua's school is ominous; the girls are Gao Ling, Wu Yinghui, and Lü Huiqin are the Fifty-First Middle School; Wu Xiuqin and Li Fenglan are the Thirty-Sixth Middle School; Wang Shuchun and Wu Lijuan are the Forty Middle School, Zhou Qi and Qu Yan are the Sixty-Ninth Class of the Eighteenth Middle School; the second batch of people who came on May 26 are all from harbin Forty Middle School, although they are still involved in the factionalism of the Cultural Revolution. But most of the people are fine. I was the only one who came on May 30th.
Although they didn't know each other before, they quickly became one. Many of them became lifelong friends with me and still maintain friendships and contacts today; but some have lost touch with the passage of time.
The company leader The instructor of the fourteenth company is Dai Liangqing, the deputy instructor is Liu Hanyang, the commander of the Fu company, Zhou Dongru, and the accountant of the company, Liu Shifang, all four of whom are six or six. Three demobilized cadres.
Instructor Dai was forty years old and had participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea; he was one meter and eighty meters tall, with a tall figure, a rectangular face covered with wrinkles and the smoke of the battlefield; he was upright and kind, loved and cared for the young people, and led by example everywhere.
Deputy instructor Liu Hanyang is a medium-sized city soldier, wearing a white shirt and yellow military pants in the summer, shaking a folding fan, in this remote northern mountain village, a pair of urban intellectuals elegant demeanor, not long after we came he was transferred;
He Quanfu, deputy company commander in charge of production, and Wang Quanfu, deputy company commander in charge of aircraft maintenance, are both local veteran workers. There is no company commander in the company. In addition, there are Hao Dezhi, Wang Kaicheng, Kong Qingfu, Hao Zongli and so on. The three demobilized officers and men were all squad and platoon leaders.
Company Formation In addition to a platoon of peasant workers (old workers) and a platoon of machine maintenance, we Zhiqing were separately organized into a third platoon, and the platoon leader was Li Zhiren, who was Zhiqing. The Zhiqing platoon is divided into two classes for men and women. The head of the boys' first class is Li Baofan, the second class leader is Wu Yuanchao; the first class leader of the girls' class is Wu Jingyan, and the deputy class leader is Gao Ling. The second shift leader is Wang Shuchun. After Li Zhiren was transferred away, he was appointed by Kong Qingfu, a retired soldier, who was thick and upright, physically strong, and enthusiastic about Zhiqing.
After I arrived at the company, I was assigned to a platoon of Zhiqing. The class leader is Li Baofan, and there are nine people in our class.
The life of the company was stressful. When we first arrived, we were idle, and every morning we got up at 5.30 to run, 6.00 to eat, and 6.30 to 7.30 to read every day, studying Chairman Mao's writings and newspaper editorials, and arranging the day's work by the instructors.
Labor from 7.30 to 11.30 a.m., lunch at 11.30 p.m., work at 12.30 p.m., leave at 16.30 p.m.; meet and study under the oil lamp after dinner. After nine o'clock in the evening, the whole company went to sleep with lights out, which was completely militarized life. Ten days off during the farm's leisure time.
The work and rest time during the busy farming time is mainly based on the needs of production, getting up at three o'clock in the morning and going to the ground, breakfast and lunch are sent to the field to eat, and the work is finished at night until dark.
The salary is a monthly salary diary, if you do not rest, you can get 51.86 yuan per month (including the subsidy fee in the alpine area), which was a very high salary at that time. (However, after December 1968, the monthly salary diary system was criticized as a product of revisionism and changed to a fixed monthly salary of 41.86 yuan.)
Lianli attaches great importance to the canteen, and the life of our young people in 1968 was very good. We ate white-noodle steamed buns (because the company mainly grows wheat and soybeans), and without coarse grains, it was difficult to eat a whole meal. There are all kinds of vegetables grown in the company, and when the farmer is busy, there are stir-fried vegetables at every lunch and dinner, and you can eat meat every week. Lianli has a tofu room to grind tofu themselves; sometimes they also organize old workers to go to the Honghu Tuhe River to catch fish, so every once in a while we can also eat braised fish or stewed fish, a bowl of fish is only three cents, delicious and cheap. At that time, the fish came from pure nature, fed with spring water from the mountains, with delicious taste, delicate flesh, and endless aftertaste in the mouth. Even for a while we had milk to drink for breakfast, a large bowl of milk was only five cents, with a strong milk aroma. The cows were raised by the company itself.
At that time, the food fee was fixed monthly, that is, ten yuan per month was paid, and the staple food was eaten casually, and then gradually changed to fifteen yuan per month, and in 1969, it was changed to a meal ticket system. In short, life at that time was really good, much better than the city life at that time. At that time, the city was mainly dominated by coarse grains, there were few fine grains, soybean oil and pork had to be rationed, and even to eat tofu had to be ticketed, so the young people felt that life was very good and did not want to go home.
Because it is a military reclamation farm and a newly built company, we even have rows of houses carved in wood (logs), neat and uniform, clean environment, orderly placement of machinery and equipment, six or six. The three veteran soldiers were still wearing the yellow uniforms issued by the troops, the old workers were not very old, the clothes were relatively clean, and they all earned wages, and they did not have the dirty and messy environment in the countryside at that time, so we were very happy.
In order to strengthen the management and education of intellectual youth, the company set up a branch of the Communist Youth League, with deputy instructors as the secretary of the league branch, and Li Zhiren, Zhang Linghui, Wang Shuchun, and I as the league branch committee. We often meet to study various educational and literary and artistic activities for intellectuals.
When I first arrived at the company, the company leaders were very concerned about the intellectuals and young people, and conducted ten days of study and training, and we mainly studied Chairman Mao's writings, improved our understanding of the military reclamation of the frontier, and educated us to love the frontier and build the frontier. When we first went, the labor was not heavy, most of them were doing some odd jobs, and the company leaders, veteran soldiers, and veteran workers were very concerned about us and let us adapt to it for a while; at the same time, under the leadership of the company and regiment branch, the Zhiqing platoon carried out various activities suitable for young people, and formed a Mao Zedong Thought literary and art propaganda team, which enriched our amateur life. But later, with the arrival of a large number of young people and the flood after 1969, our lives became more and more difficult.
Scenic Company: Once, we even had a male Zhiqing who was drunk in the mountains because he had eaten too many persimmon fruits, and if he hadn't let others come back with him, I really don't know where he woke up tonight?" ”
When I woke up at five o'clock the next morning, it was already sunny outside the house. Due to the high latitude of our regiment, the sun rises at two or three o'clock in the morning in the summer, and it is also dark early in the winter, and it is dark at more than 3:30 in the afternoon.
The morning of the company was so quiet, without the hustle and bustle of the city. Cooking smoke, birds singing, the air is filled with the fresh aroma of earth and grass. The mountains and rivers around the company are beautiful, and a faint layer of morning fog floats at the foot of the not far mountain, as if a mysterious tulle for a sleeping girl, giving people an infinitely beautiful reverie. The surrounding fields are green, and when you look around, there is a beautiful and idyllic idyllic scenery, which is pleasant.
North Mountain Style More than a mile north of the company, there is a North Mountain, which is about sixty meters high. The mountains are rolling and green, and the green mountains are lush. Nature is really like one of the most outstanding painters, who paints the North Mountain with brilliant colors throughout the year with the divine skill of tianbi. Spring is full of vitality and green, summer flowers compete for purple and red, autumn forest leaves are like fire and red mountains, winter Yushu Qionghua is wrapped in silver, and the beautiful North Mountain is full of charming charm and style.
In the summer, you come to the north mountain, the green waves of the forest sea, the fragrance of the grass, the flowers are beautiful, and the beauty makes you intoxicated; in the autumn, the crimson leaves dance with the autumn wind, and in the yellowed wild grass like a cluster of burning flames, it is so eye-catching and gorgeous. The wood ear fungus, yellow cauliflower, persimmon fruit, hazelnuts hidden under the autumn leaves beckon to you shyly, and the charm makes you lose yourself, which is really a special interest in your heart.
The persimmon is a small purple fruit that tastes sweet and sour, mouth-watering, and it is rich in vitamin C and natural alcohol, making it a truly green food. Nowadays, it is famous for making persimmon wine in the world, but at that time it was only a wild fruit that could be picked and eaten. We often go to the field on rest days or after work, and the taste is amazing and the aftertaste is endless. At that time, there were no apples, ducks and pears and other fruits, so the persimmon fruit was our most delicious fruit. Especially those female intellectuals, as soon as the rest day comes, they will team up to collect persimmon fruits. At that time, the Nanshan of our company was full of this kind of fruit, and they came back with dozens of pounds as soon as they picked it, washed it and mixed it with sugar, which was so delicious. But if you eat too much, it will also make people dizzy like drunk. Once, we even had a male Zhiqing who was drunk in the mountains because he had eaten too many persimmon fruits, and if he hadn't let others carry him back, he really didn't know where he was awake tonight. ”
Climbing the North Mountain, natural food will make you return home with a full load after a good meal, and the beautiful scenery will make you nostalgic. Kitayama greeted us with a feminine abundance, so that we can never forget her graceful style like a young girl.
One day after the rain, I, Li Zhiren, Yang Yi, Feng Hongli and a few young people climbed the North Mountain. "After the rain, the sun is tilted again, and the mountains are full of clouds", a rainbow is like a chain of seven colors bending in the blue sky. At the bottom of the mountain is the Honghu Tuhe River, which is like a jade belt, not far away is the row of neat dormitories of the company, and in the distance is a piece of fertile field like a green velvet carpet, a red tractor works in the green field, the blue sky is floating with white clouds, the mountains and rivers are interdependent, the rivers and mountains are splendid, it is really like a beautiful landscape painting, the beautiful scenery is as beautiful as the eye can be seen, which is pleasant.
Kitayama is not only beautiful but also mysterious, we once picked a Japanese saber in the fire on the mountain; And once, Zhiqing Yuying and others went up to the mountain, in the upper part of the mountain, in the chaotic grass, a very hidden place, they suddenly found a half-meter-high square chimney made of cement bricks, the diameter of the chimney hole was ten centimeters, and the unfathomable depth of the black hole hole was illuminated by flashlight, and the cool air of The Cold Sensen came out of the hole. They reported the discovery to the company leader, and it was analyzed that there was probably a Japanese military materiel warehouse hidden in the belly of the North Mountain. This square facility is likely to be a ventilation hole, but it was unable to excavate at that time, I wonder what the situation is now?
There is a road at the foot of the North Mountain, which is said to have been forced Chinese built during the Japanese and Pseudo-Japanese periods. The road leads east to the company and regimental headquarters and to the west post; the road to the west turns at the foot of the mountain, crosses a small river and passes by our company, and then leads to a rare and mysterious deep mountain forest.
It is said that the dense forest is inhabited by the Orunchun people, but it is still far from our company. Later we occasionally saw them riding horses and carrying guns out of the mountains to buy wine at our company commissary.
Not far from the foot of the North Mountain is the Honghu Tuhe River, which meanders all the way from the mountain, and there is no one in the deep part of the small river, and the shallow place can be waded through, and the wide place is about forty or fifty meters. Flocks of small fish in the river play in the water. In the summer, the river flows quietly, and in the autumn rainy season, it will roar when the water rises. This small river is a tributary of the Gongbiela River, which flows through our company and then flows through the Seventh and Ninth Companies into the Gongbiela River, then passes through the regimental headquarters and Xigangzi, and then flows east into the Heilongjiang River and finally flows into the sea.
The Honghu Tuhe River flows forty or fifty meters away from our Lianzhiqing dormitory. There is a path behind the dormitory that takes only a few minutes to walk to the river, which is overgrown with green grass and flowers of all colors. On summer mornings, when we get up, we go to the small river to wash our faces and brush our teeth. The river is clear and clean, not polluted in any way, you can see the colorful and beautiful pebbles on the underwater riverbed at a glance, you can also see groups of swimming small fish, and you can take the basin to catch several fish. We often hold the river in our hands to drink, the river water is cool and delicious, with a hint of sweetness.
The scenery of the small river where we are even is beautiful, and there are rows of green willows along the river. At the bend of the river, a river beach is formed, the river beach is clean river pebbles and fine sand, it is blocked by heavy green willows, and it is impossible to see here outside, which is a natural ideal small bath.
After the summer labor, we came to the small river, bathed in the sunset, and washed away the fatigue and mud dust with the river water. After rinsing, I felt relaxed and comfortable, hummed a little song and walked to the canteen.
On rare summer days off, the canteen opens two meals. After breakfast, we carried a basin of washed clothes and went to the river to take a bath and wash the water. We washed our clothes and sang cheerful songs, joking with each other, standing in the water and splashing each other, shouting loudly, laughing, and enjoying ourselves. Tired of playing, we hang our washed clothes on the river pebbles and willow branches, wash our bodies completely, lie on the hot river pebbles, close our eyes, and let the sun warm up on us. The surrounding quiet, as if asleep listening to the sound of rushing water and the cheerful singing of the birds, enjoying the sunbathing, the feeling is too wonderful. Some Zhiqing simply "bathed naked and sunburned". Like the always innovative Zhiqing Lao f, he often takes off his clothes without hanging on, and stands on the river beach in the sun with a red stripe that comes and goes without concern, which is known as "drying eggs".
We also talk about life and ideals by this beautiful little river, sing our favorite songs, and enjoy the fun. The babbling water of the river washed away the tiredness and mud of our day, bringing us joy and happiness. We call this "Treasure Island", and this is our paradise of joy, full of our laughter.
In the summer, I used to walk along the small river upstream into the mountains, because there was no one, the more I went in the small river, the more beautiful the scenery of the river, the green trees surrounded by herbs, beautiful, almost like a summer resort, I was amazed and intoxicated by this beautiful scenery and this pure land.
In the few months of coming to the company, I really felt that the scenery here was so beautiful, the sky was blue and the water was clear, the green mountains were continuous, the green trees were verdant, and the fields were rich, which made our mood particularly good. This beautiful north mountain and this river of youth have appeared in my dreams many times today, decades later.
Company female Zhiqing.
Adapted into the Corps Structure: Our hearts are really full of revolutionary pride, and from then on we are glorious corps soldiers!
At that time, our Xinhua Regiment was still a military reclamation farm under the Heihe Agricultural Construction First Division, and the regiment leaders and company cadres were basically demobilized officers and soldiers who came in March 1966, and they were still wearing yellow military uniforms. After we arrived at the company, every morning they led us out for exercise and running, organized us to hold meetings and study after breakfast, and sometimes held meetings in the evening to study or carry out various cultural and sports entertainment activities, completely in accordance with the style of the troops, everything seemed very formal, very full of vitality, very much like the military life we looked forward to. We are especially happy in our hearts, because we are glorious soldiers fighting in the front line of anti-repair.
In June, we began the intense summer hoe labor, and after the end of the summer hoe, in late June, the CPC Central Committee issued a document approving the establishment of the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps of the Shenyang Military Region and Chairman Mao Zedong's "Six. 18 Instructions" The document stipulates that the Heihe Agricultural Construction Division and the Hejiang Agricultural Construction Division, where we are located, are merged and reorganized with the farms under the Northeast Agricultural Reclamation Bureau and some farms under the provincial government to form the Heilongjiang Construction and Production Corps of the Shenyang Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The establishment of the Production and Construction Corps was a major event at that time, and it played a very important role in consolidating national defense and defending the frontier. Chairman Mao's instructions were "done accordingly" in two words, but at that time this was the supreme instruction that departments at all levels must conscientiously implement, which was an extremely important event, and since then June 18 has become the anniversary of the official establishment of the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps of the Shenyang Military Region. In accordance with the provisions of the document, the Xinhua Regiment to which we belong was reorganized into the First Division and Second Regiment of the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps of the Shenyang Military Region of the People's Liberation Army.
The Corps held a grand celebration meeting in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, at which the central documents and the important strategic significance of the establishment of the Corps were preached. 《VI. After the "18 Instructions" and the central documents were sent to the Xinhua Regiment Headquarters, the senior director of the Regiment Political Department immediately went to our company to give a lecture.
On that day, the sky was clear, and the whole company gathered on the playground. The high director is six six. The third demobilized cadre was awarded the rank of lieutenant. He was not tall and spoke loudly. He enthusiastically read out Mao Zedong's instructions and the documents of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission on the establishment of the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps, and also spoke of the strategic significance and specific requirements for the establishment of the Production and Construction Corps. Director Gao said excitedly: "Chairman Mao's personal instructions for the establishment of the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps are of great significance, and we have been assigned to the leadership of the Shenyang Military Region of the People's Liberation Army and re-entered the plaster of the People's Liberation Army." ”
After listening to Director Gao's message, everyone was full of joy and shouted long live Chairman Mao! Zhiqing was even happier. At that time, joining the People's Liberation Army was the most important thing for every young person to aspire to, and he felt very honorable and proud. The company held a study forum after the meeting and once again deeply understood the six. The great significance of the 18 instructions and the formation of the Heilongjiang Corps. I sat with Li Zhiren, Feng Hongli, Wang Guihua, Ma Jiacheng, Wu Yuanchao, Jiao Fulin, and Li Baofan, and we rushed to make enthusiastic speeches, and in light of the situation on the frontier and the responsibilities of our young people, we felt that the formation of the corps was a wise decision. Everyone felt that the action of going to the military reclamation farm was affirmed by Chairman Mao, and we have since become the soldiers of the Platon Reclamation Corps of the People's Liberation Army Sequence, how glorious and proud. That night, Quanlian held a celebration meeting, and the Zhiqing Platoon performed a program, and we cheered and sang to the fullest, and Quanlian has been immersed in joy for many days.
Then the whole regiment held a grand celebration meeting at the regimental headquarters. On the day of the meeting, all the young and retired officers and men of the company took horse-drawn carriages, tractors, and other means of transportation to the regimental headquarters. I saw that on the road leading to the regimental headquarters, the traffic was rolling and the voices of people were boiling, and it was really like a flowing water. Our company's zhiqing and demobilized officers and men also took various vehicles to the regimental headquarters. We also made a red flag with six companies written on it, all the way to the wind, and we sang the military reclamation battle song, and the atmosphere was really warm and passionate.
At that time, Wu Yuanchao and I had just arrived at the junken farm for more than a month, and we had not completely shaken off the student spirit. Seeing this warm scene, we could not help but boil with blood, because we went to the frontier to realize the great ideal of defending the motherland and defending the frontier and opposing repair and defense, especially when I applied for the corps, I experienced such twists and turns, and I cherished the title of soldier of the corps very much. Our hearts are really full of revolutionary pride, and from then on we are glorious soldiers of the corps!
At that time, I thought that the Corps was a revolutionary university. My blood boiled and I named the corps: Chinese People's Liberation Army SIX. 18 Communist Military Reclamation University. We revolutionary youth have come here to study Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought and to temper our revolutionary will. We are on the frontier, with our hearts set on Beijing and the world in our hearts, with the goal of overthrowing the imperialists and rebels, liberating all mankind, and planting red flags in the White House and the Kremlin and all over the world. At that time, it was really full of the fiery passion of too many revolutionary youths, in fact, from the heart, there was a regret that I wanted to make up for not being able to go to college.
There was a rostrum in the center of the venue, and the leaders of the regiment sat on the stage. The venue was full of demobilized officers and men and young intellectuals from various companies. The red flag fluttered and laughed at the venue, which was as lively as a festival. When Colonel Lin read out six. When the 18th Directive and the Central Committee document announced that the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps had been formally established, we cheered and applauded for a long time, shouting "Long live Chairman Mao!" over and over again! "I wish Chairman Mao a long life without borders!" The party committee of the delegation of political commissar Wang Dongsheng spoke, and then the deputies of the various companies spoke warmly and congratulated, and their excitement overflowed into words. The grand and enthusiastic opening of the conference,
This was the first time I had seen and been with so many zhiqing in each company since I came to the Second Regiment. At that time, there were no large numbers of Zhiqing to go to the countryside, and each company had only 20 or 30 Zhiqing, and all of them were from Harbin City, and there were more than 300 Zhiqing in the whole regiment. I saw many students from our school at the venue, and everyone felt very kind, proud to be a glorious soldier of the corps, we shook hands and greeted each other happily, and everyone's heart was full of joy.
Those demobilized officers and men are happy to return to the PLA sequence. In March 1966, these demobilized officers and men of our regiment received orders to go to the border areas to prepare for war. When they reached the border of Heihe, they suddenly received an order from the Central Military Commission, and all personnel were transferred to other occupations on the spot to form the Xinhua Regiment of the First Division of Heihe Agricultural Construction. Originally, they were in order to form a corps when they were transferred to a collective job, but because the subsequent Cultural Revolution movement was stopped, their identities were unclear. Although many of them could not figure it out, they resolutely carried out the order to cultivate land, build houses, and reclaim the border in this remote and desolate border area. Now that they finally have a clear statement, they are the backbone of the corps, and their mood is naturally very excited.
Our regiment was officially formed as the 1st Division and 2nd Regiment of the 1st Andjian Regiment of the Shenyang Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and our company was changed to the 14th Company of the 2nd Regiment in April 1969. Our mailing address was also changed to Aihui County Jianzi 102 Mailbox 14 Detachment (the corps has a total of six divisions, arranged in the order of six characters for the construction of steel border defense into the code name of each division, such as the code name of the second division is the set character; the third division is the steel character, the fourth division is the iron character, the fifth division is the border character, and the sixth division is the defense character).
In the middle of October, when the first snowflakes fell, we Zhiqing lined up in a neat line on the playground of the company, and the company leaders awarded us the yellow cotton winter coat and cotton military hat issued by the corps to each Zhiqing. We took the uniforms and everyone was excited.
Standing in front of chairman Mao's statue, we solemnly swore an oath: Use our youth and enthusiasm to build the frontier, defend the frontier, and build the frontier into a great wall of steel.
We heroically sang the most popular "Corps Battle Song" among the Intellectuals at that time:
Along the fields, along the mountains, build this battle line of steel. The heroic contingent strides forward to build the frontier to defend the frontier. yes! Glorious production corps, ah! The heroic construction corps, which developed Nanniwan in that year, has been passed down from generation to generation in the revolutionary tradition. One hand to fight with a gun, the other with a pickaxe to produce. Mao Zedong Thought armed us and will always fight at the forefront of anti-revisionism! Fight on the front lines of anti-repair!
Thus began the legion years.
