According to the official measurement of the China Earthquake Observatory Network, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake occurred at 18:43 on February 8 in Shaya County, Aksu Region, Xinjiang, with a depth of 20 kilometers and an epicenter at 40.59 degrees north latitude and 82.86 degrees east longitude.

The average altitude within 5 kilometers of the epicenter is about 966 meters.

According to the China Earthquake Observatory Network Rapid Report Catalogue, there have been 205 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above in the past 200 kilometers around the epicenter, and the largest earthquake was the 5.7-magnitude earthquake (176 kilometers away from the epicenter) that occurred in Kuqa County, Aksu Region, Xinjiang on September 16, 2017, and the distribution of the first 50 historical earthquakes according to the magnitude is shown in the figure.
